"Not a great flashback to 2001"
The 01 was one of the all time great habanos IMO, this one just didn't get there for me. It was rich with black coffee notes, but its not the 2001 that I remember. Not that there is any shame in not living upto that smoke.

"Good but not great"
I thought it was a good cigar. I did not have any uneven burn problems with mine. The wrapper was dark. I bought it 2 in 2007 and it's sat in my humidor for almost a year. I think it had the flavor of burnt coffee with a hint of spice. It was medium bodied. Overall I think it was a good cigar

"Try if the price is right"
agree largely with Michael review 4/6/07, annoying uneven burn throughout but cigar fininshed well.

"Promising"
My experience was somewhat similar to marty's, without the the horrible part. It started out as a spice bomb, peppery and full, and I feared that this might be how the whole cigar smoked. Somewhere after the first inch or so, it mellowed out into a smooth smoke with hints of earth, chocolate, coffee. Subtle changes in the flavors happened throughout the middle of the cigar, making it quite enjoyable. About the last inch or so it turned peppery again, lending credence to marty's theory about how these cigars were rolled. If aging improves the beginning and end, and doesn't negatively the middle, these could become truly excellent cigars in a few years...and then again, maybe aging won't improve them at all.

"Dissapointing"
I smoked the excellent 2003 version, and decided to give the 2006 a try. First 1/3 was excellent very similar to the 2003. Then the problem began, the cigar lost its taste, and smelled like burned paper or cigarette.... I smoked it anyway just to get pass to the last third, but by then I really felt sick.
Montecristo is my favorite brand, but this was a disappointing experience, I might have fallen on a bad cigar, but I am not buying another one of this series again.

"Cigar rolling is a science"
With this cigar I got to experience how important the blend of tabacco is in cigars and how important it is that they burn even to get a balanced flavor. This one started of with very peppry notes and it was very flavor full. After the first ash was dumped in the ashtray it really got going and the flavor then reminded me of grilled mushrooms that my grandmother makes. Then it turned bad, I mean really horrible, it was so bitter that I was about to chuck it. But then I reminded myself that it's not an ordinary cigar and that I actually paid quite a lot for this one so I decided to stick with it. By this point I was about halfway and the cigar was about to go out. So I dumped the second ash and then I saw something I hadn't seen or at least noticed before, The cigar had started to burn towards the center and not burning the outer layers or the wrapper so it had left a big hole. So I figure that the tobacco in the center was the bitter part and since it was the only part burning the cigar had become awfully bitter. I relight it and was hoping for the best. And man what a difference! Now it was balanced, creamy and all the nice flavors and then some came back. Now what I can say is that I kind of understand the science of cigar rolling. So because of this I can't say that the construction was great and because of a vein in the wrapper it wasn't to pretty either, But I like to think that those kind of imperfections gives the cigar character. Overall, a great experience and I have another in the humidor so I'm just hoping that it will be better constructed and still deliver the same great flavors. If you can, try it! I always say that you should try as many cigars as possible, because you never know when you might find a favorite. This wasn't my favorite but it could be yours.

"Immature?"
Opinion based on smoking 20 out of a box of 25 purchased in late 2006. Dull and almost Maduro in appearance—however, every cigar has residual glue around the labels and cap. Soft feel—not tightly packed. Softness got more spongy during entire smoke. Great aroma out of the box. First draw is almost like earth mixed with 90% dark chocolate & burnt toast. Lack of pronounced spices. Not a typical MC, except for the start. Overpowering at the beginning (definitely high nicotine). Smoke mellowed out about the half way point. Uneven burn throughout—needed fixing. Recommendation: Not worth the price or smoke experience now. However, I have another box (same date) that I will let mature until next year. Who knows, these might be like a fine wine—gets better with age?

"Good"
A gift of my boss for bonus day (meant to partially set the disappointment off...) this Robusto Ltd Edition is good, well built and fairly flavoured, although not dramatically so. The typical Montecristo flavous come in a bit distant. I believe it would have needed some more time to age. A lot of smoke and impeccable construction, though.

"Oh Yeah"
Just got some from friend that went to Cuba. Tough to find but well worth it. Draw is a little tight. Great chocolate and spice with lots of traditional Cuban flavor. Quite strong, will age well. Highly recommend.

"A good solid cigar"
I have smoked many non cubans and now that I have smoked this cuban cigar, I have to say that it was a very good cigar, but not better than some of the top tier non cubans. This cigar's flavor is a medium tobacco flavor with hints of pepper and toast. Draw was perfect as well as construction.

"Well worth trying"
Fine looking robusto, very nicely constructed with a good clean, trouble free burn. The flavour were a nice and rich with hints of classic Monty, but were still a bit of a let down, but that may have been the Patagas petit corona I smoked an hour earlier. The trouble with this stick is that your expectation of big gauge Montys are that of the No2, which its just not, but its not supposed to be either. Not the best short fat stick on the market, but still a perfectly good robusto

"Just O.K."
I was really excited to smoke this one but it failed to leave up to the hype. It had the great flavor you'd expect from a Monte but the draw was tight and it tasted a little young. Maybe with 2-3 more years of aging it will improve.
