This is a great cigar. Size wise, it definitely suits me (I am sorry I don't know the terminology for this size), and it is at its best about 5 minutes after the start. Great taste, strong, and enjoyable light.

Cuban Montcristo #3 - 1998

The #3 has that classic Monte chocolate wrapper. The wrapper is a little bumpy from storage, but very clean. The cigar is a little soft to the touch, but the draw was perfect. Easy light. The gray ash was medium firm and

Sans a few beetle holes, this box has been delightful front to back. Burns nicely, and tastes dreamy, even after re-light. Wanted the #2's, but little bro has been just fine.

"Really good smoke"
I found this cigar to be on the mild side with wonderful flavors. I could taste cholate and light spice and coffee. I also had a wonderful creamyness to is. I really enjoyed it. even though I perfer stronger smokes. The construction was perfect and the ash held very good. Recommed.

"icehog is on the money."
Flavorwise, icehog 3 is dead-on. That was the flavor profile to a tee. I even had a burn issue as well during the second half of the cigar when it began to spoon on me. For the price, I love this one, except for the one construction flaw.

Had another of these sticks last night and it was the same as the first, smooth wrapper which started to unravel just after light up.Smooth smoking with loads of smoke, nothing special to write home about from this smokers point of view(same as the #5 just more of it)for $19 a piece i think i will smoke something else.

"Smooth"
Very smooth, easy smoke. Burned fairly quickly, but I think it needed a few more months in a humidor. It's a much tastier cigar than I'm used to, but not at all heavy. Felt more like eating dessert than smoking.

Wrapper looked slightly crumbled, but didn't really care after I started smoking.

"loved it"
one of my favourite cigars to smoke when I go to Cuba. it's a little smaller than the #2, which makes it a good smoke for walking around the city. excellent flavour, a little on the simple side. and if aged a couple of years, it's absolutely incredible. gorgeous wrapper makes my mouth water just looking at one.

"Creamy delight"
Smoked my first #3 tonight, with a decent amount of age on it....Liked it better than the other "smaller" Montes I have smoked. Had a definite chocolate flavor at the beginning, that quickly became more of a coffee and subtle spice through the 1st half. The second half was filled with cream flavor, like a Boston cup of joe. The draw yielded tons of smoke, though the burn was a bit crooked in the 2nd half and took a couple touch ups. If I could find a 90s box of these I would buy it in a heartbeat!

"Constantly Consistent"
This was my first venture away from any other montecristo besides the #2 and the petite edmundo. I love this smoke, and I think that a corona size cigar is perfect for the Monte flavor to come out. It is a beautiful stick with very fun veins and creamy looking wrapper. I tasted cream galore when I sparked it, but was disappointed that I got a large run in the first 1/4 of the cigar. After that it ran well, with bountyless smoke that tastes like butter but still pack a punch.

"Dud"
This 5 ½” x 42 slightly box-pressed stick with box code PUL 5/01 sports a Colorado wrapper with fine hairs and minimal veins. The traditional triple cap is present. Solid construction without soft spots. Rich barnyard aroma on prelight. Easy light. Firm draw. Fairly even burn without the need for relights or corrections. Gray-black flakey ash. Started with mild pepper. The first third brought mild leather, nuts, and tobacco. The flavors were very subtle, indicating to me this could be an older cigar vs. a fairly indescript, almost bland, blend. The middle third saw the tobacco flavor assume a toasted quality, along with a slight woodsy taste and a slight “twang”. The last third introduced a very mild grassy note, more toasted tobacco, and a slight bitterness towards the end. All in all, this mild-bodied, one-hour smoke was nothing special for me. I kept waiting for flavors to intensify, introduce themselves, or open up, but alas this never happened in the sample I smoked. Paired with black coffee. Perhaps it would have done better with water…..

"Monte #3"
This had lots of flavors all though the smoke. I would definitely say this cigar had twang. My palate loved every minute. If only the construction was as good as the taste. Unfortunately the cigar had burn problems that required adjusting three times, and it went out once after only two or three minutes without attention. But the taste of this cigars will cause you to smoke through almost any burn issue. Medium to Full in body with a wonderful finish. A very good Corona.

"Island beauty"
Currently I'm going through my box from '96 and i must say that these have aged very well. Light colored wrappers and a roll that is slightly loose, the flavor has mellowed to a quiot riot. Deep and intense Cuban must with a very nice spicy finish.

"excellent"
i disagree with those that state the #4 is better. i have had an entire box and only had 1 with a burn problem, none with draw problems, and the flavor was consistent through the entire box, and it was a great MC flavor. i have 1 left, and i'm saving it (until i buy another box). too bad this doesn't get the pub the #2 and #4 do, as it deserves it.

"Wow"
bought half a box and have been letting them sit for the last 6 months, and they have been smoking a lot better lately. It starts off with a kick, but then smooths out and becomes a fantastic cigar. Full bodied and peppery with that distinct Montecristo "twang". Smoked cool all the way down to the nub. Definitely can taste the quality!

"dissapointed"
I have now smoked three of these cigars, and a no. 4, and I must say, I have been dissapointed by each and every smoke. Grey ash, went out a couple of times, draw was tight on a couple of them, but was much stronger than I anticipated. I wouldn't recommend this cigar, especially in terms of its cost ($15 CAD). If you want to spend that, or even less, then turn to a Partagas or a Padron, way better smokes in my opinion.

"Get Some!"
This cigar was a pleasant surprise as Cubans go. I have not had the best "cuban" experiences (poor construction, muted tasts, etc.), but this cigar was perfect all the way around. Perfect burn, perfect ash (a little black and grey though), and the taste was amazing. It had an predominantly cedar taste that was complimented by notes of leather and espresso, and it was overall medium to full bodied. These should age well, and mean to test that theory.
