I smoked this cigar today, it had been in my box since last Aug. I've smoked my share of Cubans, I'd give any 2 Cubans for an OpusX ! By the way, I love a good Habanos.

"A Nice Cigar But...."
Wonderfully made- good draw and excellent burn. I found it to be one dimensional in flavor but the intensity did build as it burned down to the nub. Overall a good cigar but not worth the price and did not- by any means- meet the hype associated with this brand or the cost.

"It is that good...."
These were really pricey at my B&M but I wanted to try them anyway. After staying in my humi for more than a year, I unleashed the beast last night. As you would expect, from this Fuente, it tasted sublime. But the draw and thick plums of smoke made the cigar stick out. I could have stood the cigar upside down and the ash would have stayed secure. It tasted like nutmeg and cedar.....not really woodsy, but aromatic almost. Anyway, it will be a cigar that I go back to for special occasions, b/c that is what is was...special!

"Aged very well"
A stunning reddish brown wrapper covers this beautiful churchill-sized cigar. No. 15 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2006. The draw is just about perfect, and the ash solidly formed; the burn is mostly even for much of the smoke, but starts to waver towards the end, and needed a relight or two. Over a year of humidor time rounds out the complex flavors of red pepper, leather, and coffee, resulting in a flavorful, balanced smoke and not just a show of power. Still started buzzing towards the end, however. Decent value if you can buy in the neighborhood of the MSRP, and not at the "scalper" prices some places charge. The unique flavor, scarcity and hype (justified or not) always makes for a memorable smoke.

"Box Set"
I bought a 3 cigar box set with the DVDs and a book about Fuente (had a Forbidden X and a Royal 8 as well). Although I have had many good experiences with the Opus line, this one was a slight disappointment. It's incredibly strong which I usually like, but this was too much. The flavor was not complex and although the ash was perfect, the construction perfect and the appearance about as good as it could be, I found it to be overly tight (had a hard time keeping it lit; which is either a sign of an inexperienced smoker or a second rate roll). Overall it's not a bad smoke, but I'd buy another in the Opus line before this one.

"Don't buy into the hype"
The apperance and construction were top notch. But the burn wasn't great. It went out a number of times and required a few touch-ups as well. This cigar was spicy and tasty, but a little one dimensional. It also packed a nic kick that really snuck up on me. Enjoyable at 1/2 the cost, over priced at $16.

"marketing genius"
The amazing buzz of this cigar far surpasses the goods delivered. Sure, it's a fantastic roll. I'd even call it a 'good' cigar. Noteworthy? Not really. Great performance, nice burn and ash. Slight pepper and good 'ol tobacco flavor. Great cigars sell themselves. This one needs the hype it gets to command the price. After smoking two (one month apart) I still felt like smoking a great cigar, and each time I did...and not another "X".

"Decent"
Every now and then I get a group of my friends together and smoke some stogies. I was especially curious about the buzz about this smoke, and so certain that such a large number of people couldn't be wrong, that I decided to smoke this guy instead of the Trinidad Robusto Extras and Cohiba Esplendidos that I gave everyone else. This cigar is okay...but compared to great cigars, it unfortunately is incapable of holding its own. I was a fool not to put this beast out and jump in the group with a Cohiba...for $18, all I can say is "maybe next time I won't be so damned stupid".

"Great, fanstastic, or any other synonym"
I received these smokes as a gift from my wife. She thinks they smell good right out the box. Actually had to take it from under her nose to smoke one. The smell is not the only thing that was good, the spicey flavor is wonderful. The construction is top notch with a smooth draw and a decent burn. This stick was so good that I stayed outside (have elderly parents living with us who don't like the smoke) freezing to finish all of this cigar. The cost of this cigar...oh well, you get what you pay for and this one is worth it.

"Great cigat but I had to fight..."
Enjoyed a Reserva d' Chateau today while completing a one day round trip from Northern VT to NYC. Aside from uneven burn problems most likely due to windows and moon roof open the cigar brings everything it has in an enjoyable one a half to 2 hour package. Expensive we know but absolutely worth the experience

"Best Churchill Money Can Buy"
This cigar is simply amazing. It is great out of the box with a spicy bite as you put the tip to your lips and tounge. I would stay away from a v-cutter as the draw towards the end of the smoke tends to be a bit charry. The flavors are rounded, smooth, robust, and filling. You should eat before smoking this cigar. I've smoked nearly 40 of these now and just tapped into my 4 year stash. They are simply amazing. This said, out of the box they are delightful as well.

"heaven...I'm in heaven"
I just received a box of 32 of these from an authorized dealer...for retail! (no foolin'!) I was, however, on a waitlist for 13 months, but what a total treat. The construction is perfect, wrappers like glove leather, and believe me, this is about as full-flavored as I want to go. More than even, say, a Bolivar Belicosos Finos, one of my favorite cigars. These babies will flat out sneak up and kick you in the back of the head! The are a spice BOMB, with the bean notes so pronounced, and even though they feel hard as a rock, they draw volumes with ease. There is no wonder at all that Opus X are the most sought after cigars currently being sold, and hopefully I won't have to wait another year for a chance at another box of this or any other Opus vitola. DO whatever it takes to get one of these, and make sure they're authenmtic, and you'll understand immediately what all the fuss is. Don't belive the reviews here that say this is a piece of garbage cigar, and the like, they probably smoked a counterfeit.

Of all then Opus vitola that i have tried so far, this was definitly the best. The taste of this opus seemed to somehow be more complex than the other i have tried, but was still nice and mellow. The construction with good, an uneven burn found its way out. the stick was nice, but is alittle shy on th ebang for your buck.

Smooth if a little one dimentional. In spite of the hype which turns me off as it does many of us, I really like these cigars. Don't find them nearly as strong as the double coronas (which I cannot smoke). Have always like Fuentes and this one is at the top of the list.

"over priced"
A very nice tasting, smooth cigar; never any harshness or bitterness. This is what makes its kick so surprising. This cigar will leave your head spinning, even after a meal! (Granted, I’m not a heavy smoker. I smoke one cigar a week, which is good because that’s about how long it’s going to take me to recover)! Back to the flavor, as I said it was very nice, but I felt it lacked character. There was nothing about it that made it stand out in my mind as something special. There was nothing unpleasant about it, but there was nothing that made me feel like I absolutely had to smoke one again or that I should go out and buy more. If the cigar was 1/3rd the price, I’d probably be really happy with it, but at $15 dollars a stick, I won’t be trying these again any time soon.

I can't beleive I paid $35 for this garbage! lol what is the big deal with these cigars?! I tried their robusto, torpedo, corona, and just recently this churchill....it was a total let down.....plain and simple junk! I mean I put it out half way couldn't smoke it anymore. Don't get me wrong beautiful contruction and it started out promising and actually started to think I was wrong about these cigars but within 20 minutes this crap stick fell right on it's face! lol not worth the $$$$ you're better off buying cheaper sticks or taking a chance on getting quality habanos.

"Toast and Tea please..."
Wow! This cigar is a powerhouse of flavors. It also has the postential to be a powerhouse of punches to the stomach if smoked on even the slightest empty stomach. The flavor is rich and spicy at first, then it mellows out a bit only to pack that last punch near the end. A solid 2 and a half hour smoke. I had to relight a couple of times, but this was mostly due to me taking my time with it (highly suggested). A "one of a kind" experience. Unfortunately because of its price, it might have to stay "one of a kind" for a little while.

"This was the best cigar ever!"
I just finished off a two and a half year old Opus X Churchill - simply amazing. The flavor was beyond compare - The softness I can only compare to the finest Cohiba Esplendido - the myriad of wonderful flavors are rivaled only by a Montecristo #2. This cigar was simply amazing. I am modifying my already high rating - a perfect 10 in every way. I have 11 more of these - they too will wait for a spell before being enjoyed! Wow. Simply amazing.

"Among the better Opus X sizes available"
I could not agree more with PDS's review. You must be careful how you smoke any Opus X. Unlike a Padron Anniversary, an Opus X can turn bitter real quick if you are not sitting, relaxed and often enjoying a beverage. This cigar is beautiful - as always, you will not find a better looking cigar. The burn, ash, and construction was superb - better than the Robustos I've smoked (not that they were bad). I found the flavor a bit on the milder side, but still rich with the Opus X flavor I've grown accustomed to - like an allspice or non-sweet chocolate softness, sprinkled with flavors of coffee and roasted nuts - I've always thought it ridiculous to read reviews like this, but I promise if you focus on the flavor of the smoke dancing around your mouth, you will start thinking of tastes it reminds you of... The value, considering the consistancy of excellence I've found in this line of cigars, was excellent - All together among the finest Opus X available.

I have smoked a lot of Opus X, and notice you have to be very careful how you smoke them. I planned on being relaxed and just hanging out while I smoked this cugar, nut ended up chasing the toddlers around sa "Mom" had to leave. The smoke got real harsh as I was moving around quite a bit, and likely smoking it a bit to hard.

"Savor this treat!!"
This is by far my favorite smoke in the world. I keep 8 or 10 in my humidor at all times, and only smoke one when I've bought another to replace it. I keep them for a few years and let the flavors meld together into the perfection they were created to be. Good with a nice scotch, but great with a Cabernet.
