A great cigar, gives Cubans a run for their money. Only complaint is they are soooooo hard to get (and a bit pricey when you find them), but a great "special event" cigar.

"Overpriced"
One would think a $12 dollar cigar would be better. After reading all the hype I bought a box and smoked a few. I would rate them, so far, anything from OK to not so good. Not a very special smoke overall. It's good mind you but for 12 bucks? Construction is good and it is a fine looking cigar, although I could do without the box press. Good amount of smoke and a fine burn but the flavor leaves one wanting for more. Maybe my expectations are much too high. As I mature in my cigar smoking experiences I am learning to stay away from high priced hyped up cigars and cigars on sale. I plan to keep the remainder of the box cooking in the humi for awhile and hope they improve as all quality cigars are supposed to.

"not so hot anymore"
bought a box about nine months ago, they were the best cigars Ive smoked. HOWEVER, I recently bought another box around Thanksgiving 07, they were UNSMOKEable. At first I thought the make be fakes, after confirming the serial numbers with Padron I sent them back to Padron for replacements directly from the factory. Still, the are not so great, I know it happens but I am really disappointed. Try a single stick before buying any Padrons, something is wrong with their production of this years product.

"you can't do better in a medium body"
Not a powerful cigar like the Opus or its 1926 brother, but good flavor in a medium bodied package. Personally I thought it could have been more complex, there was basically one flavor throughout the smoke. Luckily it was a good flavor. My burn was also a little off.

"cedar churchill"
Great construction. Excellent draw. Mild to medium in body, but full flavor. Complex as well. Sweet wrapper taste with some coffee and hints of nuts. After the 1/2 way I tasted a lot of cedar and toast. A fantastic finish,an almost almond like aftertaste. A fantastic cigar.
Well worth the $10.50

"Up There With The Best"
This is an excellent smoke. It has the typical med/full Padron flavor of coffee and chocolate. The 1964, however, is richer and smoother than the regular line. You can tell it is made of well aged tobacco. For the money, I tend to prefer the Paul Garmirian 15th ann. or the Fuente Anejo - but this is still a superb smoke. Good for special occasions.

"Nice and toasty"
I've been wanting to try this double corona for a while. Very nice toasty flavors; medium strength and well balanced. Did not seem to have too much spiciness. Burn was perfectly even and it stayed lit even getting down to a nub. The box press is nice and probably helps the burn. My only compliant is that the cap is really sloppy. Looks like someone just threw a scrap up there without much care. The $9.40 MSRP is on the expensive side, but it's a great smoke. I'll have to try the maduro version to see if it's that much different.

"Good Smoke"
Well, I finally smoked one. I think we will all agree the construction is flawess. Good ash and smoke. It was full of black coffee flavor, but I expected a little more excitement. I am not sure I would purchase another one.

"meh"
not terribly impressed by the flavor. just tasted like any other good nicarauguan, like a Joya de Nicaragua. I was expecting that with the aging it might loose some of that caustic bight in the back of your throat that Nicaraguan tobacco always has. The so called complexities of the cigar were very subtle. Im not impressed by this approach of high end nicaraguan puros. They either need to be aged for much longer (perhaps like the 1926 series?) or they need to be blended with other tobaccos, the tobacco doesnt stand on its own well.
as far as the formal elements, it was flawless. Construction, appearance, light, burn, ash, draw. All perfect. I was perhaps most impressed with the draw of the cigar, which was both dense and box pressed, but drew incredibly smoothly and burned slowly.

"Nice but ....."
These are not box pressed, they are press shaped then boxed. These are pretty smokes that usualy burn great, I've had few draw problems (stored at 65%). The taste is good, nothing spectacular though .. for the price I expect more. They really are nice smokes though, I really shouldn't compare their taste profile to Havana's finest, rather to other NCs available. In that comparison these are excellent.

"Perfect"
The perfect ending to a great evening with my wife and best friend. My wife fixed a great meal of steak and shrimp scampy, and after that we fired up these big beauties, chocolate and coffee with burn and draw perfection, went great with dark rich coffee. The cigar went perfect with a great friend and my best gal. As good as it gets.

"Not good enough"
I love Padrons but this stick just didnt have enough flavor and complexity to it. Had all of the Padron traits such as the construction and apperance but the Ashton virgin sun grown is way better and a little cheaper. But on the other hand I had a 1926 maduro and it was right up there with my favorite cigars.

"exceptional smoke"
The entire Padron 1964 series are excellent smokes. Some are overpriced, in my opinion, and hard to find, but they are very consistent, and you’ll never be let down. The PA64’s are equally appropriate given as a gift, smoked with friends at your local cigar lounge, enjoyed before, during or after dinner, or even by yourself on the back patio. If they were a little less pricy, and a little more available, I’d make them my daily smoke. Appearance and construction were flawless; however the wrapper didn’t have that smooth suede look of the principie. At light up, this cigar tasted warm and toasty with a rich chocolate flavor. As it smoked down, it built body and spice until it mirrored a cup of dark coffee. The flavors started turning bitter and grassy at the ring, but a quick purge brought it back into character, from there I was able to smoke it to the nub. My advice is to remove the ring before lighting up, so you won’t have to fumble with a hot stick later on. This is one smoke you won’t want to put down ‘till it starts burnin’ your fingers.
