"One of the best!"
I am a huge fan of Padron 1926s and Anniversary's and now I'm a huge fan of the 40th. I've had a couple of the 80ths and was unimpressed, relative to the much cheaper standard 1926 anyway. The 40th however is in a different league altogether, if that's possible. Great Padron construction and flavor in a stronger cigar. I'm accustomed to strong cigars but this one literally knocked me out after a hearty meal. I went straight to bed afterwards with a wide grin on my face. It's superior in every way to the 80th and Opus X cigars I've smoked. Highly recommended.

A very well made cigar from start to finish. The smoke is full of exotic flavors of perfection, perfect draw and flawless construction. With a Lagaluvin 16yrs it was very delightful hour+, this is one of the best 1926 I ever had cant wait to try the #6

"impressing new and old"
im new to the world of cigars. my brother in law is quite the connoisseur though. i thought id impress him with a cigar for once as he always provides great smokes he has on hand. i picked up 2 of these 40th anniversary beauties and we actually smoked them that same night after dinner with a glass of 2005 "BOGLE" vineyards Cab. Sav. and all i can say is wow. this cigar had an exquisite taste starting with a fine leather, circling through an array spices, and a fine chocolate as the finishing touches. i must say that the tongue lashing i received from my wife for spendind $56 on two cigars was more than worth it after it was all said and done. i have and will continue to recommend this cigar to all smokers new or old.

"Best cigar I've had"
This is a very strong, full-bodied smoke. Note to self... eat before smoking these cigars. If you don't you will get very dizzy smoking these. This cigar had a perfect draw and burn. I only aged it for a few months, as I couldn't wait any longer. The cigar had a nice long white ash, with pepper, leather, and a chocolate undertone. This cigar was so good, I smoked her to the nub and there was absolutely no bitterness at the end of the cigar. I paid around $20 for this one. A little pricy, but so worth it. Not an everyday smoke by any means, but one I will have in my humidor for those spwcial occasions, or when I want a perfect cigar.

"Priceless"
Smokes like this shouldn't be graded with the pricetag in your hand. I don't care what your means are, smoke this like your in a crushed velvet herf jacket, sitting in a leather chair thats as oily as this cigar.

For the Cuban lovers and those who dont drool over OpusX's... its warm in here, come on in 🙂 i think Nicaraguan puros with this amount of care are only equaled.
A legend and a value because this is the reason i put fifty dollar bills down on cigars. don't let the decision you already made ruin the experience!!!!

"Premier Good Cigar"
I embarked this memorable journey with the natural wrapped cigar. I paid $31 for her down in Ft Walton Beach, Florida when I was at an Altadis sponsored herf; granted Padron is not Altadis product, but I could not resist in purchasing one. I have seen these sell for up to $50… I started off this once in a lifetime battle with the natural. Picked her up and gently handled and smelled the richness of its flawless triple Nicaraguan construction. The tobacco wrapper reminds me of a premium Ecuadorian leaf with very fine veins. I gracefully torched and primed her before I held her to my lips. As soon as she touched my lips I started to salivate. After about the first inch I started to taste the deep rich soils of Nicaragua. The flavor that complimented the earthiness were that of fine Italian leather, paprika and Swiss dark chocolate. The ash was flaky grey and white and held for a couple of inches and of course I had to utilize my black ceramic gold accented Padron ashtray. The draw was medium and emitted generous amounts of white smoke. The essence of the smoke was a bouquet of tobacco bliss, which I find common with many Padron. This beauty lasted over 90 minutes and I tried to pace myself and not smoke it like a train. I maintained my patience so I would be able to fully enjoy the complex flavors. Towards the end the flavor changed up into cedar and pine. In my opinion this Latin queen is medium/full-bodied with a fine finish. I smoked her to the nub.

I am a rookie smoker, and i too wanted to know what the supposed best was like.... Well I thought It was just that, The Best, Construction was great, burned perfectly the whole way thru, I really enjoyed the flavor, granted my palatte is not as trained as some of you veterans out there. As far as the price, I paid 25 so im not as price sensitive as some other folk. Overall I would have to say that Its the best cigar Ive ever smoked!

Truly a gorgeous cigar, but like a few of the other guys, I was left wondering "where's the beef?" both times I smoked one of these. The price performace ratio is as bad as any cigar I've had, although these are definately nice tasting cigars.

"Nice"
Overhyped? Yes. Deserving of CA's #1 rating for 2004? No. A damn good cigar - definitely. This attractive perfectly box pressed stick is wrapped in a lush maduro wrapper with minimal veins. Hefty in the hand, the construction was superb without any soft spots. Easy light. Super smooth draw. Razor sharp burn without the need for relights or corrections. White-gray ash. Started with spice and wood. The first third held notes of chocolate, cinammon, cocoa, wood, menthol, and sweet warm leather. The smoothness increased in the middle third and brought a toasted tobacco flavor with whispers of herbal and floral qualities. The sweet leather notes continued to dance in and out. In the last third, I detected some vanilla and a mild tanginess - noticeable, but still pleasant. All in all, this one hour 10 minute smoke was an extraordinarily complex, medium-to-full bodied, smooth smoke with incredible construction. The B&M price was $26, but it he gifted it to me, which may have made it taste even better! Regardless, it is a damn good cigar. For that coin, however, there are better values. A nice treat.

"Add a Porsche and you are on top of the world"
I don't smoke the Padron 1926 40th
Anniversary Maduro Torpedo everyday or every week or every month. In fact I have smoked it 3 times in my life and I can't get this smoke out of my mind. This smoke was smooth, with a rich flavor that grows with each puff. Padron really understands their cigar customer and this cigar is at the pinnacle of cigars. Forget the price and think of the experience you get from this great cigar. It is an opulent gift to yourself that will always bring a rush to your mind like the 1st time you rip up the road in a Porsche or a Corvette Z06. This smoke spoils you the way a top of the line cigar should. I couldn't find a downside to it other than when you are done smoking it you want another but realize that money doesn't grow on a tree.

"One of the Benchmarks"
Immaculate in every way. Construction is flawless. Flavor profile is complex but not overly spicy. Perfect, efficient draw. Cumulo Nimbus clouds of smoke...and the perfect companion to my Hennessy XO. When you light it up, you know you are smoking a very special cigar...

This is quite simply one of the finest sticks on the planet...and I am seeing "hmmm...maybe" and "average" ratings. Sounds like some folks have an axe to grind. The price of a cigar would never influence your rating...if you don't have the cash, don't smoke em. Thats like buying a Rolls and blaming the car for being broke...it ain't the car's fault.

"You guys think this lacks flavor????"
I've seen a lot of reviews bashing this cigar. I've had three of them and have few more sitting at home. I really don't understand the reviews saying this cigar lacks flavor. It tastes nearly the same as the 26 line, and the size and construction make it the best of their line. I guess if people are paying $50 a piece for this, I can see the issues. For me, there is no way that you can find any cigars ouside of Cuba for under $20 a stick that compare with this. The other tasters who have written rave reviews have summed up the positives, but I just wanted to address some of the negative reviews that I have seen here. In fact for my money, I'd take this over most Cuban Cohibas.

"I just spent how much for this???"
Truly a remarkably crafted cigar, but just as truly an unremarkably flavored smoke. This cigar was perfectly rolled and pressed, leading to a flawless draw, but the flavor was not any more noteworthy than your average $6.00 dollar smoke. In fact, Padron's regular line has a much better flavor profile. This 40th anniversary cigar had some nice flavors, but it had some strange notes at times - often alfalfa or clover. Overall, it was very mediocre in taste. (No, it was not a counterfeit - I bought it at a very reputable cigar shop). While I appreciate the craftsmanship of this smoke, I expect second-to-none flavor from a $30.00 dollar cigar. Considering I could name dozens of cigars that taste better, I am left extremely disappointed.

"Unmatched craftmanship meets so-so flavor"
Take the band off and sit it next to any other cigar on the market and anyone would grab it. Once you light it up it's just another good smoke. Great draw, perfect ash, easily nubbed, but just average when it comes to flavor. I wish I could say that I got a less than par stick, but I couldn't bring myself to coughing up the cash to try another. I can say that I have the band to prove I actually partook of one of the most touted cigars to be made today. That at least says something for Padron's marketing and advertising plan.

"Less than impressed"
Please believe me when I say that this stick is immaculately crafted. Set next to another stogie, it's night and day. Perfect draw and ash, but just average when it comes to flavor and complexity. Easily nubbed and easily forgotten, except for being able to make the statement, "I've had a Padron 40th Anniv." Unfortunately, I won't be forking over the cash to try another in hopes my first was a fluke.

"Disapointment"
I am a big fan of the Padron Anniversary lines, however this cigar did nothing for me. I was expecting bold flavor and lots of complexity but i received neither. the flavor was very bland, only getting bold when it became bitter about 2/3 of the way through. I can't say i wouldn't recommend them because of all their rave reviews, but for my money i would much rather have two 1926 annies or 1964 annies.

"Almost perfect"
For my 100th review on this site, I smoked this famous and expensive cigar, No. 1 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2004. It's a beautiful torpedo, perfectly pressed with a silky wrapper; it belongs inside a display case, and it's a shame that it has to be cut and set on fire. The draw is perfect and produces plenty of smoke; the burn, however, could have been better as it was a bit uneven and inconsistent and needed a few corrections, which was a surprise. The flavor is outstanding: lots of chocolate, leather, and nuts right from the start, turning more creamy and cocoa-like later. Smooth, rich, complex, balanced, etc.; all the positive adjectives apply. Medium to full in body, it's sneaky strong as the buzz kicks in late in the smoke. Very expensive, but for a special occasion cigar it would be hard to do better than this.

The best non-Cuban cigar I've ever smoked (and best than most of the Cubans too). They are excellently contructed with just the right amount of complexity. All that said, I would not pay $40-$50. At $25 bucks a stick though, they are well worth the price.

I don't understand how anyone can say anything bad about this cigar other than its price. Yet considering what you get, one of the best smokes ever (if you aren't worried about how much you paid while smoking the gar - the prerequisite), the price is not that expensive. I can't smoke this everyday, but if I could, I certainly would: it may even take the #1 spot, for me, from Padron's 1926 #1.

This is one of the few smokes I can honestly say I smoked right to the end. The flavors definately smack of coffee and chocolate without harshness. The smoke is rich. The draw is just right. Construction is darn near perfect and is a beautiful cigar to behold. There are no dead spots on this cigar. I would say this cigar has more character and heaviness than most cubans made right now. It far and away exceeds my previous favorite Monte #2. A must try and also a must keep.
