"Top Notch"
This is one of the best that I have ever had! This stick is a thing of beauty. It's dark, rich leaf is second to none. It burns very even and produce thick clouds of white smoke that I swear your mother can knit a sweater from! And the flavor - Oh man is it great! It started sweet and ended that way. I tasted creamy caramel and nutmeg flavor all the way through. Need I say that the aroma was great as well. The price is not so great, but this one is a must for your humidor.

"Looks good but not"
Aesthetically pleasing however, lacks the "umph" that one would expect from a cigar supposedly of this caliber. Price wise, it is cost prohibitive. Also, tasted somewhat bitter toward the end.

"Great"
Flawless burn, draw and construction. Sweet, dark wrapper. Very strong and rich. Started with subtle spice on top of coffee, cocao and semi sweetness and progressed into strong expresso flavor. Even though this is a great cigar, I preferred the flavor profile a little more with the 80 years maduro and the #6 maduro, both of which had a more complex and richer flavor profile. Still, I have never had a less than stellar experience with any of the Padron 1926 or 1964 maduros. This line is the standard by which all others should be measured in my opinion.

"TOPS"
I was reading all about this one and decided to give it a try and so glad I did, First this is an expensive cigar but then again what isn't that is any good. Many of the negative reviews are more negitive because of the price and not really the cigar. It had plenty of taste and cant wait to spark the next one.

"ok smoke"
I hate to say it. Perfect construction, spicy blend with subtle chocolate undertones but almost no progression. It was a unidimensional cigar with a great burn, but that's it. I was sorely disappointed as my expectations were high. I think the padron exclusivo maduro is much better than this. It was a flat experience and I don't really want anymore of these. I had saved it for a couple of years now.

"Full range experience"
I think that all the '26 line (that I've smoked!) are best-of-class cigars, all of 'em are put together with care and with extraordinary tobacco. Each cigar in the '26 line also tastes different and is a distinct experience. The 40th Anniversary starts off spicy and strong -- like the other stogies in this line -- but, about halfway through, you notice: it's a really smooth-flavored cigar. Mild? No. Nothing mild about this cigar. Even unlit it packs a punch to the nostrils. This is a complex and full smooth-flavor, brick-solid good-drawing severe-box-press put-someone's-eye-out-stout-with-the-pointy-end torpedo that smokes more smoothly than any other cigar in the '26 lineup. There's no "supr-savr-value" here, just as the $50 steak is never a bargin, but "Value" is not the point here. You spend the $$ to get a cigar that is an experience and not a smoke, and that's exactly what you get. More than other cigars in this line, it'd be perfect for a beginner -- knocks their socks off at the start but mellows in to a pretty laid-back smoke.

"Rich and Wonderful but OVERPRICED!!!!"
Padron, enough said right? This cigar was another hit in my book, well worth the experience, excellent construction, wonderful flavor, great draw and burn. However, to be completely honest I would NEVER pay the price that some people are getting for these, nor could I tell you the difference between this particular smoke and some of the other 1926 offerings. But it was GOOD!

"A Wonderful Smoke"
I typically use Cigar Aficionado's annual top 25 as a guide to see what's 'hot' out there and saw the Padron 1926 40th Anniversary Natural cigar received the #1 rank for 2004. After searching online I saw that the price for this little gem ranged between $30-$50. After doing a little searching I found some for $20.81 which is an excellent price in my book. This cigar smoked beautifully! It has a rich full bodied flavor and smokes incredibly well. The construction is top notch and the burn and draw are wonderful. I wouldn't make this a daily smoke but rather a cigar for special occasions, with friends during a ballgame or for celebration. If you have the chance to try one please do. You won't be disappointed.

"Better than the Imperial"
I bought a few of these smokes at the same time that I bought a box of the Padron 1964 Anniversary Imperial (M). I wish I had done it the other way around because I enjoy the 40th Anniversary Torpedo (M) more than the Imperial. For me, it just has more of that delectable flavor that I crave most about the Padron brand. Excellent

"Perfect 10"
I had to try another one of these beauties. I gently inspected the construction and pre-light aroma, which was flawlessly divine as her sister. The wrapper was dark and oily just like I like it. As customary I toasted her and lit her with my dual-torch lighter after snipping the top portion of her crown. I usually only wait until after the first inch of ash to comment on the flavor profile and I will do same with this review. Intense complex robust flavors of French roasted coffee and dark chocolate and toasted macadamia nuts penetrated my pallet with nice long finish that I savored. Once again I had to slow down. The ash was razor sharp with what appeared to be a whiter ash then the natural. As usual I dropped the ash on my wife’s rug; good thing she is out of town. The ash was three inches long and perfectly straight. Halfway through the flavor profile started to warm up and I experienced additional flavors of floral notes and brandy. I find the maduro to be more full-bodied and smoother then the natural. This cigar is not for the novice and you seasoned smokers know what I am talking about. I smoked her to the nub to not only savor each moment of this indulgence, but to get my $4 per inch value.

To pay $50 for a single cigar you can imagine that I had high expectations. Taste was good, but not great and definitely not worth $50. Instead of wasting money on an obvious "marketing" smoke, try a good cuban for about a third the price.

"Padron could do better"
All right, here we have a cigar priced at $25 and sold for up to $50. For this money, one could buy any one of the Cohiba LE's from Cuba, any of the Trinidad line, a Cuaba Diadema, or even a Monte A. For one to say that this cigar bests all Cuban cigars would be complete insanity. This cigar is good; its a very deep smoke with chocolate and nuts, and is probably worth $25. On the other hand, there are many cigars which surpass this vitola in the Padron lines alone.

"Great Googly Moogly"
In my short 15 months of cigar smoking, this cigar seemed like a phantom, aficionados would sit and talk about this elusive cigar at the local cigar shop, in my eyes it had reached a demigod like status. I even met one guy who dropped $800 for and entire box he liked them so much.
On a trip to Virginia I stumbled upon a box, they were $25 a piece, I bought one.
Maaaaaaaaaaan! I have spent good money on some serious cigars; opus x, VSG, ESG, greycliff to name a few.
This has become a benchmark for me, sadly, If i never smoked another cigar. i think I would be okay.
I am not experienced enough to put this into cigar terms, but I do know i has been the best i ever smoked.

"Too much for too much."
I'm afraid I'm going to have to be mediocre reviewer number one. The cigar was good; it was toasty, filled with complex flavours, and had a magnificent construction and ash...however, if the 64 maduro torpedo was $25, I'd buy it over the 40th.
Comparing the 64 maduro torpedo and the 40th maduro torpedo is interesting. The 40th is like, as mentioned before, an opusX version of the 64. The 40th is muy powerful, and therefore must be smoked differently from the 40th. To me, in the end, the power over spoke the flavour, and I was left with nothing more than a buzz I could've gotten from chewing tobacco. Maybe in a few years...

"Padron does it again"
There is a very good reason why these bad boys are so hard to find. This cigar draws you in from the beginning, and doesn't let go until the finger burning end. Tons of smoke, complex flavors, excellent burn, and constantly evolving as your progress. If you can find one buy it, I know its pricey, but you just can't get a great steak at the sizzler.

"Just Perfect"
I pulled this one out of the humi' after it been resting for 2 months. The draw was a little tight but you could still experience the complex flavors. After clipping it twice and taking another draw, I was speechless. Clearly the best cigar I've smoked this year. Even better than the Cohiba Siglo VI. As I'm writing this I'm down to the last third. Again I'm speechless.

"OMG!"
After smoking my 5th 40th Anniversario I've decided that this will be the cigar i compare all others too. This thing is the bomb...I get excited anticipation thinking about smoking another...easily an hour long smoke. always burns even, easy draw with a perfect white ash that sticks for 1.5-2". Flavor explosion. Heavy hitter with strong dark chocolate, coffee and toast flavors...its like smoking thanksgiving dinner..unreal...gets significantly more intense in the last 1/3. The price is worth it..but i wish it were less expensive

"No way Pardners"
No way this cigar is worth the price tag. I've tried just about everything Padron available in the US, and I have always like the quality, but the price for some is just way way way over the top. This is a plain good cigar. Nice flavor, nice burn, nice aroma....very NOT nice price. By setting the price so high, they will never get a perfect rating from cigar smokers who know that price does not dictate quality, but it sure can hinder the experience by hyping expectation.

"The real deal"
The real OpusX has just stood up. Puro vs. Puro, send my money to Nicaragua! This cigar redefined 'nubbed' for me because i couldnt put it down...i wouldnt put it down! I gave '10' for value for 2 reasons- one a smoke like this isnt considered for the daily rotation so come time to burn it, it is all the more glorious. Two, OpusX sometimes lingers between "Special Occasion Only" prices and somewhat decent prices. the PAN 40th clearly states, "you better have just got hitchted or won a race" and why im in love- it doesnt let you down even at 50 dollars.
