I know there is a big debate about quality of recent cuban cigars. The edicion limitada are maduro cigar that received a critic comment by Cigar Aficionado editor. I found a box of Partagas piramide dated Jan 01. I smoked one and it was perfect. Better th

"One of the best"
I had a box since 2001, given by a dear friend and all through this years this was an incredible smoke. Just had one of a few left yesterday and again confirm that Partagas outdid themselves with this pyramide. One of the best. If you find one - smoke it and you will not regret it!

"Tasty, But I Have Had Better"
I was in the mood for a treat, and broke out a 2001 Partagas LE. A rough looking, chocolate brown maduro wrapper, with a few big bulging veins. Well rolled, burned nice and even. Fairly full body, a bit harsh and peppery for the first several puffs. Smoothed out into a plain, good cigar. Bakery spices abound, with hints of coffee, and a nice tobacco flavor. Much better than when I smoked one fresh out of the box several years ago. It was good, but there are better Cuban cigars at the same price range. Next time, I would most likely choose a Montecristo #2 instead.

"4 Year old stick"
Gifted from a member of CBID forum. This stick has a slightly weird burn, but the taste was good. The look of the cigar was typical ISOM and if I could get more I would.

"Disappointing"
Looks great but disappoints. Had to relight the damn thing several times. Taste was so-so. Won't buy anymore. Not in the Diplomatico #2, Cohiba Esplendido, Trinidad Funadore class, not even close. I have 2 or 3 more I'd trade for comic books.

"Different"
I shared a couple of these with a buddy the other night. His had fairly substantial burn problems, mine did not. That having been said, we both kind of found this to be a funky smoke. It didn't really deliver the expected Cuban punch. It should be characterized as a medium body cigar, which is a deviation from most of the other Partagas vitolas I have had (especially the Serie D. line). The flavor was almost sweet in spots, and I have to agree with a previous post that stated this would be a fine dessert cigar. Not really what I expected, which is not necessarily bad.

"Killer Cigar"
I am on my third box of these and they do not let you down. I think this is one of the best pyramids out although they do have the occasional wonky burn I love the full flavor and richness without the heavy hit.

"Patience is a virtue"
I bought a box of these about 18 months ago (box date FEB02) and wasn't particularly impressed, bad burn and muddy flavor. Just had one last night and it was excellent, burn and draw were nearly perfect (tunneled toward the end) and flavor is now rich and smooth. Doesn't strike me as strong, more medium bodied with lots of cocoa. Seems like it will be a great "dessert cigar".

"Too Young Yet"
Hellish burn problems and a very 'young' taste made this a big disapointment, hence the low score. I bought a box but, I'm not disheartended as I think it will age beautifully, if only I don't smoke them before then because of impatience. I am going to try to accelerate a few by airing.

"Only getting better..."
This piramide was great when they first appeared and are only improving with age. This was the first one that I smoked since April, 2002 and lost its slight harshness. The awesome strength and complexity was still fully intact. I only hope that I still have a few to try in a couple years. Excellent!

Highly refined, with a few burn problems. Woody with a good amount of peppery spice. Medium boddied with a short sharp spicey finish.

some burn unevenly, some are tight. Good thing they taste great (cocoa/woody, with some cuban bite). They are a bit pricey . . .

"I loved it"
After reading some of the reviews I went to my local tobacconist and purchased a stick for $20, you know the going rate for Cubans in the US. Yeah, I broke the law, I know. I have to agree it is a must try cigar. Awesome. Other than price, I absolutely loved it. If only I could get them at any price below $12 I would probably stop smoking anything else.

"10 points here/ or 93"
Almost black great looking wrapper. Flavor is very complex with a lot of leather, chocolate and earthy undertones. Very rounded and ballanced. Heavy, but very nice and fragrant aroma. The burn is good all the way through and the ash is grayish black in color and very firm held up to 2 inches. I never had to relight the cigar through the whole smoke. This is a great smoke at any time of day. Smode was thich and creamy. It will only get better with age.

"Reconfirm my WOW!"
Just smoked another PELP. I used to rave about P S D #4, but this one exceeded that great robusto.
I will stick by every thing I have said about this vitola in my July rating. This one was from the box of Feb. 02. Lot's of sweet spice, at the begining, very balanced, fragrant and aromatic. Try to buy from the Spring 02 batch - you won't be disappointed. I have paid $245 per box, but in some placed it can be more expensive, but this smoke is well worth the money you pay for Davidoffs, Padrons Anniver., Opus Xs at $15 a stick and higher.

"A pain to smoke!"
A lovely flavour, heavy chocolate and coffee tones underlaid with the sweetness of the maduro - however, nearly every one has had big construction problems - uneven burn, and kept going out! Great pity..

"Partagas at it's best."
Came from a box dated Aug. 2001. Great constructed cigar with dark, silky and oily wrapper. Was spicy and had hints of roasted nuts, earthy tones appear towards the end. Very Enjoyable.
