The Punch-Punch is another cigar from Cuba i hope
no one finds out about. Good quilty and burn, lead into

"A Mild Cigar"
This cigar is a mild smoke. With the flavor of leather and cedar that becomes more intense and toasty the more you smoke. It is not a very complex smoke but it has hints of earth and coffee. Its costruction and appearence has aways been excellent and, despite the complaint of others, I have never had a problem with either the draw or burn. It is a very good morning smoke and it ages well. Its smoke is a similar to a less complex and intense version of H. Upman Magnn 46.

"when a good one.."
I was given 5 of these sticks as a gift.Left them in my humi for a couple of months then started smoking them, finishing last night. When properly made i would give this cigar an 8.5 even a 9. Good but firm draw, burning ok,nice look(box 2004) with earthy flavours, nutty, some sweetness also, a complex smoke, but not like Saint Luis Serie A .But two i had to throw half finished hopelessly plugged, such a waste.

"Hot and Cold"
Beautiful construction. Excellent burn with a dark grey ash. Draw was very good for the most part. Flavor wavered significantly between a nice strong, spicy flavor to a rather mild just kinda semi sweet flavor. That was sort of odd. I guess the old adage applies here: when it was good, it was very, very good but when it was bad...........

"Good Medium Smoke"
This was a pretty good cigar, but pretty much one dementional. It had a woody core flavor with spicy accents that started to come through about 1/3 into the cigar and disappeared the in the 2/3 of the smoke. Other than that it was woody. Medium body smoke that filled your mouth with smoke. The burn was great the 1st half, but needed a couple touch ups in the 2nd half. Overall it was a good smoke.

A very meaty well constructed cigar. Earthy and aromatic, like Cameroon wrapper but not as perfumey. Lots of gentle spice for the first half, and then it picks up the pace a bit but never gets overpowering. Well balanced earthy flavor -- a high quality "casual" cigar.

"Earthy"
This was a fresh '06 that showed a bit of youth but was a satisfying cigar nonetheless. Earthy flavors in a medium bodied strength, it burned and drew very well. Also got to try an aged version which had much deeper and richer flavors. Based of tonight's experience, definitely a cigar I would put away to age a few years to reach what is a nice potential.

Taste: Medium bodied smoke with nutty earth flavor which was quite consistent. Was a little harsh near the end but it may have been the age of the cigar. This one was 1 year old. Appearance: nice wrapper, but a little of the wrapper came undone towards the end of the smoke. Draw: Above average. Burn: Even, whitish grey ash.

THick and full flavor but not powerful, thus making a good afternoon or anytime smoke. Each one in my cabinet has at least 3 caps, mostly 4 caps tight to each other. Id call it medium bodied rather then the assumpion i once had about Punchs (that there always powerFull) i can see why Letterman (supposedely) smokes one after each show!

"Still very nice"
This was my second Punch Punch and I liked it pretty much as well as the first one. However after trying an Upmann Mag. 46 in between, I'm afraid this will always be my second choice in the corona gorda department. (That Mag 46 was good)! This Punch was medium bodied and started off with sweet vanilla flavors, like a “Nilla Wafer” cookie. It then changed to more of a coffee cake profile before losing most of its sweetness around the half-way point. The second half of the smoke was slightly bitter, like biting into a lemon seed, but it was not too bad. By the end, it tasted like standard Cuban tobacco - a little earthy and with a touch of nutmeg. Overall, a nice experience; especially considering the draw and burn were the best I've had on a Habano is a long time.

A great smoke, although much more mild than I expected. (Maybe I was just drawing too much from the name). It was somewhat sweet at times, but not unpleasantly so. It also had flavors of caramel, nutmeg, tobacco and leather, with just a tiny bit of spice. (Enough to let you know it was Cuban). Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely buy more.

"Tight roll"
My father, brother, and I all really anticipated smoking this cigar. The pre-light aroma wet our appetites for what we thought was to come. But right from the beginning all three cigars had very tight draws, only opening up a tiny bit during the smoke. What little smoke I could get out was phenomenal! It did burn very straight all the way down, to some relief. The white ash looked great and held together completely when it finally fell off. Hopefully the next batch of these great tasting cigars will not smoke so tight!

"catch a cab"
I've reviewed this cigar in the not too distant past, but wanted to write about purchasing this outstanding corona gorda in the cabinet of 50. As good as the dress boxes are, in cabinet format they really rule. Bundled up in a nice half-wheel, they are perectly round, and since they are wrapped in a ribbon in a round shape, like all cabs, the air flow they get is quite a bit more. Also, construction is more consistent, when I unwrapped these to put in my humidor for aging, every single wrapper was so alike in color I could not see any difference. This cab is very young, (SOL-MAY.05) but I couldn't resist smoking one...and though a tad green, it was a preview of coming attractions...already a spice bomb, and already smooth as well. If you can find them in this format, I heartily recommend buying them. You won't be disappointed!

"Great!"
This is a wonderful cigar! Smooth milky chocolate wrapper with nary a vein. Good construction, though felt a little tight between the thumb and finger, with no soft spots. Mild prelight aroma. Prelight draw reminisced of raisins and plums. Easy light. Moderately tight draw (despite 70/65). Even burn without the need for correction or relights. Dense chalk white ash. Started with wood (cedar and mild oak). This was joined by mild sweet leather in the first third. The sweet woody flavor was the predominant flavor profile through the whole stick (which I enjoy). A mild tobacco taste was also present in the middle third. In the last third, a very mild floral note seemed to jump in and out. All in all, this one hour smoke was fairly one-dimensional in that the flavor profile didn't change much, but still complex in the fact that a medley of woody/leather/tobacco flavors was present that was most enjoyable. The only downside was that the draw was a little too tight depsite ideal sotage conditions, indicating a tight roll to me (mine was a '98). Paired well with a freah cup of Killer Beans.

"Taste Great"
It started of with a mild spice with a touch of harshness. Might be the Cajun stew I had for diner. Harshness dissipated after a few minutes. A hint of honey and cream with an overtone of tangy pepper though out most of this cigar. Aftertaste was quiet pleasant with a touch of dryness to the mouth. Overall... can’t wait till this batch gets some aging.

Nice looking medium body cigar. Taste started out semi-sweet.cuban_soil.oak.anise. By the middle I had a brief chocolate.coffee.oak period. It ended in a oak.spice.cuban_soil.semi-sweet taste. This particular one I'm reviewing could have stood a little more humidor time, but it was still a nice cigar. Burn was off at times and draw was nice.

"A great cigar"
Despite a little cosmetic handling damage to the wrapper, the burn was very even with very tight grey ash. I was a little worried about the draw at light, it felt extremely tight...but drew perfectly and burned slowly. At light it was very nutty with a medium body, and had grassy overtones for the first inch. Then it built a bit in strength with spicy and coffee overtones to the middle. The second half dropped off a bit to medium and developed some really nice earthy/coffee/charry notes that lingered to about the last inch. I usually prefer fuller-bodied cigars, so I prefer the Padron 1964 Monarca Maduro...but this is a definite excellent choice.

Really a quality smoke. Looks very nice, fine wrapper, one tiny vein. Draw and burn were excellent. Taste was terrific with medium body and loads of twang. Burned slow and never needed purging, quite a smooth and tasty treat. I had a Padron 1926 yesterday and at half the price and (surprisingly) with easier availability, the Punch Punch is a much nicer smoke. I'd for sure rather two of these to one of the 1926.

"Good but not great"
A better than average tast cannot compensate for worse than average construction. The draw was too tight, the burn was uneven, and the wrapper flaked when touched. The flavors were medium bodied and spicy. However, the construction of the cigar was not the quality I expect from a leading Cuban brand. I rate this favorably against most similar non-Cuban brands, but it is easily bested by Bolivar Coronas, Cohiba's Siglo series, or even the La Fuerza by San Cristobal.

A nice wrapper with one large vein that kept it from looking perfect. A firm draw and a slightly unven burn were this cigars only flaws. The construction was very good and the dirty ash held togother very well. The triple cap was very well made and showed no signs of wear when I was done punching and smoking the corona gorda. The dominat flavor through out this smoke was rich wood flavor with hints of toast in the beginning. The complexity of the flavor was very nice. Through the first 1/2 there were nutty undercurrents that reminded me of a corojo. Through the middle of the somoke it seemed to take on a floral caracter, which was nice with that wood flavor that remained. It had a long spicy finish. I hated to put it down.
