"looks full smokes medium"
this toro is well constructed and has a beautiful wrapper. i had laid this down for six months. smelled like it was going be full bodied, but after the original spicy start, it was medium and pretty smooth. i don't know what others are experiencing with this cigar, but the burn was pretty even and the flavor, while not as complex and lush as some maduros i enjoy, was smooth and enjoyable. strength increased in last 2 1/2 inches, but not to an overpowering level. i rate this one level below the best cigars at this price range, but enjoyable nonetheless.

"Very one-dimensional"
I did not enjoy this cigar. It had a nice burn, but the taste was very one-dimensional. All I tasted was an overwhelming amount of spice. I would like it better if there was another flavor in it.

"I laughed, I cried, It changed my life"
OK, ok, so I exaggerate a bit. Overall though a nice smoke.
Won a 5 pack of these on C-Bid for about $3 each. They looked so good I had to try one after only 2 days in the humidor.
Beautiful Wrapper on this nice hefty cigar. Construction was very good, Cap popped off nicely with the guillotine cutter. Medium to slightly loose draw, with enough resistance.
As other reviewers noted, slightly spice upon light up and for 1st 1/2 inch or so then settled into a nice medium bodied, slightly sweet smoke. Notes of Coffee and toasted almond.
Produced gobs of smoke, very pleasant aroma, white ash that flaked a bit but not enough to annoy.
I usually smoke Joya De Nicaragua Antanos and La Gloria Serie R's and generally go for full on bold cigars. The Punch Gran Puro Rancho certainly had enough flavor even for my jaded tastes.
Some reviewers say the flavor is one dimensional, but it's a pretty good dimension, not of sight or sound, but of mind...a place known as...The Twilight Zone.
All seriousness aside, I haven't been much of a Punch fan but I will definitely be smoking more of these.

"An average cigar"
I thought I would try my first Punch since they get a pretty good following. The cigar had good construction, even though the cap started to unravel once I cut it... it wasn't an issue though. The draw was great, with a slightly uneven burn. Had a nice spicy and earth/leather flavors throughout, with some creamy undertones. It did get biter tasting towards the end and I put it down about an inch from the band. If it wasn't for that, I would of gave it a pretty good rating. Overall, a good smoke, but nothing special.

"Keep some in your Humi"
I have smoked many of these Punch Gran Puros. Its a nice stick at about $3.60 a pop. Like other reviewers had a very minor issue with uneven burning on the one I just smoked, but others have smoked with no uneven burn. No big deal though. I had no issues with the wrapper coming undone in any of the ones I have smoked. I buy them in the 3 pack OEM boxed specials at JR Tobacco, and one of the 3 is the Gran Puro. It starts out in the first 1/2 inch as slightly spicy and then mellows to more a more earthy, woody, cedary, smooth and sweet flavor which lasts down to the last 1 1/2 inch and then gets a bit stronger in flavor. It keeps a nice full grey/white mixed ash until half way through the cigar when it fell off. Usually I smoke these down until I burn my fingers too. Overall, it's a medium mellow cigar with a nice sweet flavor without a lot of variation. Strangely enough, I have smoked some 6x48 Puros and EVERY one of them had a horrible draw and royally SUCKED. I tried to dry them to 60% in a humidor and then used center punch reamer through them to see if they were salvageable but they still smoked like crap. Stay with the 5.5x54's and you should have an enjoyable smoke. A nice cigar for a rotation in your humidor.

"Good all around"
This was the first grand puro I smoked, and found it be a solid stick. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I was expecting a much stronger, bolder flavor, especially since this stick has a very dark wrapper and a nice pre-light aroma of damp earth. However, after an initial burst of cedar and spice, this cigar mellowed out into a nice sweet flavor without a lot of variation. No construction problems here. Overall, a good smoke, I have several more in the humi and am looking forward to toasting them. For less than four bucks each, a good deal.

"thick smoke & tad fruity"
this was my replacement for the shitty AF 858. the wrapper was crap on this one too. it fell apart and burned way too hot and unevenly the entire time. this establishment, no matter how fine and clean it was, does not properly humidify their cigars. but they give em out for free. works for me. some fruits in this. i remember banana and mad thick smoke

"my last one"
Did a sampling of the regular punch maduro line, punch gran cru, and now the puro. This one was not a real great stick, but good. Nice appearance and construction. No complexity in the flavor though just straight forward tobacco flavor, but in a good way. Got a little harsh in the last third. Out of all of them I liked the maduro the best.

"I love em'"
Well after reading a number of these reviews I started to wonder what they were smoking, or was it me? Anyway the 5 er I got had absolute perfect construction and a razor burn to boot. and the flavor was fantastic. It tasted of leather and earth with a lot of sweet spice. It's a power stick so eat first. I have alwayse liked Punch cigars and this is my favorite.

"a good daily smoke."
I have smoked a couple of boxes of these. They have a medium to full flavor and are fairly smooth. They are constructed well and burn well. The flavor is not complex and of tobacco. This is a good smoke for the evening or whenever.

"Decent, but nothing stands out"
I just finished this stick after a long day of not much. Looking at the cigar, you get the impression that it will be a nice full flavored experience, nice dark wrapper, that punch band around it. You light it up and kind of wonder where all that flavor is. I had a bit of canoeing on this particular stick, and it maintained, even after attempting to correctively light.
The taste was mostly spice and not much else, didn't produce much smoke and leaves and semi pleasant aftertaste for the smoke. I also experienced a hotter burn than I'd usually enjoy.

"All Dressed up & No Where to Go"
This cigar looked like a 10, just the right amount of weight & fill, however, the wrapper was so delicate that it cracked after lighting & burned horribly. Gobs of acrid, leathery smoke but too harsh for my palate. Drats!

"so so"
I hadnt read any reviews here on this one until after I had smoked it. I too had uneven burn issues but not so much as to destroy the overall experience. Draw was smooth and produced lots of smoke, wasnt near as strong in body or taste as I had thought it would be, leathery taste and no spice. Im gonna let the others sit a bit and try again.

"wouldn't recommend"
I've smoked two of these now. Both burned horribly. I tried every trick I knew to get these to burn right...i even blew on the lit end. I still had to relite between three and five times on both cigars. The flavor was average at best...I would call it a rough earthen flavor...poor and short finish for a "full bodied" cigar. I would give it full body just because of its almost harsh flavor. Apearance is its saving grace. Beatiful dark shiny wrapper. This cigar might become more complex with some age but I doubt it. The only cigar in the Punch line with any complexity at all is the gand cru. I would avoid this cigar at all cost...try others in the punch line first. If your expecting the same thing you've tried in other punch cigars you'll be dissapoined.

"Plagued by construction issues."
The butt end of this cigar cracked not too long into the smoke and its effect on the cigar continued to magnify to the point that, about 2/3rds of the way through, I couldn't even draw anymore. The flavor, however, was good to that point.

"Not good...not good at all"
Smoked one of these a whle back...it was so bad I decided to forget about it, humidor a few more and try again. This review comes after smoking 4 of these cigars.
The cigar looks and feels pretty good at first glance...nice dark wrapper, weight proportional..good stuff. Then, you light it up.
I've started to think that this cigar was specificallyd designed to burn unevenly. I've tried everything...lighter corrections, rotation, clipping and relighting...It always goes back to an uneven burn, resulting in a soured taste.
This is NOT a cigar I would recommend to anyone, at ANY price...there are far better cigars in this price range, in fact, better one's within the same Punch family.

"Bad"
One of the worst smokes I have had. A slightly rough dark wrapper with medium veins. A couple soft spots along the length of the stick portending draw and burn issues. Easy light. Loose draw. Uneven burn requiring a couple relights/corrections. White-gray ash. Started with grass. Not the "grassy" flavor you taste in a nice Cohiba, but the kind of grass you would taste if you took your yard clippings and wrapped them up in a brown bag and smoked it. The only other flavors I discerned were dirt (not "earth", but true dirt), an herby flavor (not "herbal"), and a smokiness like the entire stick had been stuck into the smokehouse with some ribs for tonights dinner. I put this thing out at the last third, which is 2/3 more than I should have endured. Perhaps I got a dud, but I have to say this was an extreme disappointment, as I do like Punch products, especially the Gran Cru line.

"Love those fat ones."
I didn't rate the first PGPSR I smoked because I was disappointed with the flavor. I stashed the other 4 of the fiver and forgot about them for a few months. When I fogged this up the first few puffs didn't encourage me too much, buty after that it came to life. Creamy, peppery, spicy sweet tobacco mixes well in the med-full smoke. The burn is great and I'm not sure if it burns fast or if I got excited and smoked it a little too fast. All in all a very pleasant turn around from the first experience. I get why others like this cigar so much. Did I mention the dark oily wrapper? Man it looks good.

I smoked this when I first began entering the fine world of cigar smoking- It was the reason I smoke cigars today...so many out there smell and taste like a stale cig! This one was creamy, and delicious. I was truly sad when I put it out- I may have burned my fingers a little!

Distinct flavor and long burning, though maybe a bit too one dimensional- nevertheless, an excellent smoke. Excellent smoke for the price and a notch above the regular Punch line (no pun intended). A solid 'goto' cigar.

"Heavyweight Contender"
A beautiful cigar, solid and shiny. This is a strong feller, definitely an after dinner smoke. It went well with an Islay malt. There is a subtle element that rides on top of the strength, spicy and slightly sweet. It reminds me of a Trinidad, but it has more depth and isn't quite as full-bodied. Kicked my ass. Highly recommended.

"Good smoke"
Well i'm smoking one of these right now and the first 1/3 is quite spicy, an almost peppery flavor with a touch of cinnamon. So far the burn has had a slight bit of uneven burn that did self correct to a nice sharp burn at mid point. I do taste that slight menthol or mint taste that Kansashat tasted also. To me this is a mid to full bodied smoke. Slow smoking, great draw, lots of smoke. A very pleasant cigar...recommended.

This cigar has a nice flavor to it. A rich, cooked flavor, and mild-medium bodied in strength. Unfortunately, the construction wasnt as good as the cigar tasted. I had to relight the cigar 3 times before the first inch was gone. Before I tried it, I had heard a few complaints about the companys lack of consistency when it comes to construction...I'm not giving up on them just yet though.

"Opens up the sinuses."
Nice reddish wrapper leaf. The 1st 1/3 is spicy & robust, with lots of barnyard in the sinus. Somehwere in the middle, an aspect of mint or menthol appears & it opens up the sinuses quite well. It is subtle, yet distinctive. Just a really nice full bodied smooth cigar. Noteworthy, is the fact that this cigar smoked longer than any in recent memory. Very densely packed, but the draw was fine through most of the cigar.

"Really Good"
A toothy, veiny wrapper that was nice to look at. It had a few twists and turns in the flavor with the 2 strangest (and briefest) ones being a citrus-type flavor and cinnamon. Not like raw cinnamon but sort of like big red or red hots (wasn't overpowering, just reminded me of it). It burned great and cut like a champ. The draw was perfect, giving up lots of smoke effortlessly. Overall a really good cigar.

"VERY NICE!!!"
I thought this was a nice looking cigar. First time I have tried one. I'm extremely pleased with it. The flavor is unlike any I've tasted in a long...long time. Construction was nice...wrapper was gorgeous. Lit perfectly and burned very nicely.
I'll be the first to admit that while I've been smoking cigars for quite a number of years now...I am absolutely inept at discerning what a flavor particular flavor is. I'm not totally convinced that anyone really tastes "orange, or nutmeg, or caramel, or anything else". I will say, however, this was a bit cinnamonny to me. I really really enjoyed the taste of this cigar. I will definitely get this again.

"OK"
A mellow smoke, didn't burn needlessly, and had a very tight fit. On the lips and tongue the tobacco was very spicy and zesty, and the smoke was full of a light spice of cinnamon, caramel, and a little bit of pumpkin. Prefer one darker and stronger, but this was still pleasant. Paired it with Odell Cutthroat Porter, and though I could have paired it better, perhaps with a spiced brown ale or pumpkin ale, it was nice.
