Satisfying though this cigar's flavor did not change and was not complex. Med. body w/ perfect draw and burn. I paid $6 because it was a single. Would buy again for 1/3 less. This was aged more than 1 year.

"A treat"
After trying the more famous torpedo, had to try it's sibling. SPICY from puff one. A meduim body with a slow burn and well constructed. The draw was fine and just a well made cigar. The spice up the nostrils would not stop but not harsh - refined and relaxing.

"smokeriffic"
This cigar has a nice appearance with a few veins and slightly mottled with a nice dark brown hue. I believe all of the above are attributes of the Sun Grown factor. This cigar is well packed with quality Tobacco and flavor and virtually an impeccable construction no re-lights and a perfect burn/nice ash 1"-2". This is a complex smoke which starts off strong and peppery with earthy notes and a cedar taste. I also noticed midway hints of nuts and chocolatey undertones. This is a flavor bomb and it is medium to very full but not overbearing as with some Sungrown Cigars. This one emits huge volumes of tasty smoke and is strong and tangy towards the finish. I was able to nub this one. I noticed that it's a bit pricey but if you can find a deal $3-$4 per stick, it's well worth having an ample supply. I also enjoy the OSG which in my opinion is not as flavorful as the Sungrown but it is a bit smoother. Overall, I highly recommend at least trying this one and see if your able to discern the myriad of flavors this one offers.

"good flavor and easy draw"
This cigar was very, very good. The draw was about as easy as sucking air through a drinking straw. There was a lot of smoke that came from this cigar and combined with the easy draw this was an effortless smoke. The smoke was very flavorful with pepper and cedar. It was medium to full bodied but not overpowering. I liked it and will be picking up a few more to put in my humidor.

"Buttery smooooooth"
What a fantastic smoke! A beautiful cigar in every way. Flavors totaly coat the palate with a buttery smoothness that was almost caramelish. A medium to full-bodied gem of a smoke. I smoked it down to about .375 of an inch it was so good while watching a Lake Erie sunset. It took 2.5 hours and was totally relaxing. I needed a roach clip it was so good. Even at the end it never got too hot or at all bitter. This cigar took no maintenance and never needed any attention to burn perfectly. Total bliss and relaxation with a smooth, rich taste that cannot be beat. I will be ordering more Rocky's and hoping this quality carries throughout the line. If it does I have a new favorite on my list.

"Nice when it burns well"
The pack I'm smoking now have been resting for about 5 months and I finally broke down and lit them up. Great looking cigar, smooth veinless wrapper, lit easily and the draw is perfect putting out a heavy volume of smoke! Unfortunately, they all seem to have burn issues for the first half, requiring numerous touch-ups. The aroma was pleasant (my kids even commented that it smelled good.) When I *could* relax with it, the flavors were great: earthy, dry leaves (think autumn,) some creamy chocolate midstick, and a blast of pepper starting at the band. Medium/full bodied and smooth, with a dry woody finish, medium strength. I prefer the Vintage line over these, especially at the price point, but I may keep a 5er around.

"A really great cigar"
I've smoked lots of RP's before, from the Vintage lines to the Olde World Reserves and a few Indian Tabac's but the Sun Grown series has to be my favorite. The toro is an impressive looking smoke with a beautiful silky wrapper that was virtually vein free. The cap on this one in particular was a little rough looking but I think it was just an odd ball. Flavors are terrific. Thick, rich smoke with a taste of burnt caramel on the finish. The second half brings in some spiciness along with notes of wood. Medium-Full bodied. Draw was perfect and the ash held like it was super glued to the stick. Burn was perfect for the first half then began to get a little off on the second. Some tunneling here and there but I think that was partly my fault. As another reviewer said this is a long smoke. Took me a little over an hour and a half. Overall, this is a great cigar. I don't think the prices are outrageous but if you're that concerned you can get these rather cheap on auction. Definitely recommended.

"Great med/full bodied cigar"
A lot of past reviews stated this cigar but them on their butt. It is a great med/full bodied cigar, but I don't think it is a cigar that will pit those you like stronger cigars on their butt. I, for one, favor stronger cigars. This is my 2nd cigar of this line, as I have also smoked the "sixty". This cigar had great construction and the burn and draw were simply perfect. Produced a nice 2+ inch ash for me. This is a long smoke... well over an hour of pure bliss. flavors of eartth, wood and cream. Also some spicy undertones. A great cigar, but not a butt kicker in my book.

"This is my favorite cigar currently"
I had the chance to meet Mr. Rocky Patel himself when he visited one of the local smoke shops. He was handing out free Sun Growns for all customers. He was heavily promoting this line in particular, and I can see why. Of all the blends he carries, in my opinion, this is the smoothest one. It is medium-full but easy to smoke even for beginners. I am even able to inhale the smoke thru my nose, and not break out into tears. The aroma is very pleasent, even my non smoking friends are pleased. The price is the killer though, 6.95 a stick, and online retailers are not offering much discount. In the past two years, I've smoked 15-20 of these, and all have had perfect draw. One or two had the wrappers tear, but it's probably because I'm careless when transporting cigars. I would love to smoke these more often, but not at that price.

"Toro! Toro!"
Its not every day that your rvp and the COO tour your building. Its also not everyday that you feel challenged by them or inadaquate at the same time. So in this state at the end of the day who did I call?? Why my friend Rocky of course. He introduced me a blend of pure insanity. An extremely long lasting buzz/feeling from his long bullish brown friend. Upon first ignition a plethora of smoke engulfed my sense of littleness and took me into a world of pure delight. Music must accompany this smoke. This gar had flavor. A flavor that outlasted the musical harmonies (my playlist was 59 minutes) but had to be extinguished for concern of a total loss of feeling to all limbs. This gar was no ordinary gar, this gar will fudge the largest of men up. After put out, walking straight was not an option, I had to succumb to the relaxation every nerve in my body had told my brain to feel. A day will stress had become a journey into another world only my friend rocky could bring me over to. Flavor is the only word fitting for this cigar.

"Not for me"
Me and my close circle of herfing buddies agree that this is not a cigar for us; and we agree on the RP's that we like - Old World, 1990, 1992, Edge, even the Connecticut if you like mild (I don't). I had five of these when they were first released and just didn't care for them...real full but no depth or complexity. Then I got 6 from Rocky at a local shop opening and sat on them a few months because I have other sticks. This second batch is medium at best; better flavor by far than the first few but still not blowing my skirt up and now there is the question of consistency. Which one is it supposed to be like? What I love is the OSG through CI (the "Original Sun Grown) which was a blend he got side-tracked on with the vintage line and by the time he was done there the wrappers were no longer available. As long as they last I highly recommend the OSG MUCH better stick and one his best to date and completely different than this. A lot of you guys love these but I'm scratching my head on this one.

This was a pretty solid smoke. It was a tight at first but once the ash built a little, it really opened up. Although this was a fine stogie, its not as good as some of the other blends in my opinion. The best part is, I got this for free...cant complain there.

Man, this cigar kicked my a$$! I had no idea that this cigar packed such a punch. I expected of from the Flor Double Ligero, but not this one. Of course, as with all RP, this cigar had a perfect burn and ash, and blew out large clouds of smoke effortlessly. Great cigar, but eat before smoking!

"Don't smoke these after having a Cuban Blend"
Or else they'll seem like a total let-down. They're not, however.

Someone told me that if I liked the Rocky Patel Cuban Blend, that I'd LOVE these. So I tried them, only to be let down. It's not so say that these are bad cigars, they're not.

In fact, standing them on their own, they're good sticks. They burn pretty well, draw almost perfect, have good construction, and look very nice. The flavor is along the lines of having carmel tones mixed in with an earthy presence, and a slight tang. They're also nice looking sticks, having few if any veins in the wrapper. The ash from these burns a silvery-white, and can hold on to 2 inches or more.

All in all, I'd compare them flavorwise to an Oliveros 1927.

The RP Sungrowns are a little on the pricey side, but definately worth the price. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

"Enjoyable Smoke"
Aged 5 mos. Nicely wrapped cigar w/ some small veins that was pretty firm to the touch. The head clipped cleanly, the prelight draw was just a tad tight for me, but not bad at all. The cigar lite easily, and opened up with a fine spice flavor (not overpowering), with a complex array of background flavors. Kind of toasty, a medium tobacco taste, somewhat earthy w/ a tobacco sweetness. The finish was long and pleasant w/ a hint of spice. The burn was clean (no touch-ups), not a ton of smoke but enough. The ash was tight , greyish-white, I only ashed 3 times. The cigar did have some giddy-up that grew but was not overpowering. The sun-grown produces an interesting array of flavors compared to other Rocky cigars, that was a nice change. I am glad that I have a few more sleeping.

"Excellent Construction & burn"
i am not a fan of
Rocky Patel smokes, however the sun grown was recommended to me by a friend so I bought 2, handed one to another friend and we smoked them together after a big meal. The look, feel, touch, and overall construction of this cigar was the best I've seen. Start out a little spicey, mellowed a bit, and stayed tasty thru the end. The ash was perfect. I never had to relight either. At $5.50 a piece, I would highly them (CI presently has 20 for $119.00 plus 10 free Torpedos that CI normally sells for $60.00, plus a free humidor!!! Go get 'em!

Aged 2 years. I had enough of this sharp looking smoke daring me to test it and lit it up. It was a medium body smoke that was much more complex than I was expecting. Started out very vegetal then vegetal.wood then spice.bark.leather then vegetal.leather. I'm not a big fan of vegetal flavors, so this one a bit of a miss for me. Burn was off in spots, draw was fine.

"Just plain yummy..."
An enjoyable smoke this one was, a pre-smoke smell test left me wanting to just eat the darn thing! (prob not a good idea) I punched this one and the draw was great, though it tarred up quite a bit toward the final puffs eventually requiring a further clip. The smoke was quite thick and aromatic throughout never getting bitter, it got a little leathery about midway through. Usually Sun Growns have a very sturdy ash, yet this one actually came off quite early. The burn was even throughout. Overall, a fine meaty smoke.

I'm confused by some of the mediocre reviews and wonder if they're smoking the same cigar I am. I've gone through a couple boxes of these Sungrown and absolutely love 'em! Like most RP's, they have a unique flavor profile that may not suit everyone, but I appreciate the rich, sweet tones, with lots fo power. They never seem harsh or bitter, but for my tastes they are definitely "full bodied." One of my top 5 and definitely recommended.

"Looks great, smokes good"
A very handsome cigar, nice oil on a fine wrapper. Earthy with a bite on first light, then mellows into a good medium-heavy bodied smoke with hints of wood and leather. Not as smooth as I normally like, but still good. A firm draw, well packed. Like a good burgundy opened a little too soon. I paid retail in downtown Las Vegas for this one-- too much at 8.00, but for a nicely nuanced quality smoke I can't complain too much.

This was a great looking, solid stick. The wrapper had very tiny veins and burned tight to the nub, with no touch up's great construction. The flavor that dominated 2 3rd's were heavy pencil lead. I stated to get into it late into the last 3rd, when the flavor was slightly cedary. The aroma was not of your typical pungent Ecuadorian Sun Grown which I really love, but were decent.
