"A great cigar"
One of my personal favorites- great flavor and a good apperance. A perfect cigar for sitting on a leather couch in front of a fireplace with friends. I highly recommend it for the price. I picked up a 5 pack for only $13.00 at cigar bid.

"Nice Clarke, real nice"
A couple of guys at work formed a cigar co-op and I tried one of these for the first time. Right from the start I tasted mocha with some nutty notes. As the cigar progressed the flavors became a little more complex with the nutty flavors mixing in with the mocha. Toward the end it had more of a woody taste and was somewhat hot. Nice construction and even burn. Nice cigar, I would like to try more 1990s.

"A Cigar for my humidor"
I really like these alot. Not outstanding in flavor but the construction is top notch. For the price this baby is tough to beat. I got them in a 10 pack from CI for under 3 bucks each. Medium bodied and smooth.

"Some of the best of Patel's line"
I like the 90 Toro as any cigar in my humidor. It is fairly strong, complex and demanding with peppery, nutty and woody notes to it, with an accent on the nutty notes. And loads of smokes! Each is pretty consistent, too. I have tried many different styles and sizes of RP...this is my favorite (so far). CI has them for $2-3 a stick.

""vintage"?"
I thought "vintage" indicates something special. Again as part of a sampler, this did not stand out; yet, so many like this a lot.

"Million Dollar Mouth Full"
My 1st review, but felt compelled to share on my recent purchase of RP 2nds. It's all about the mild taste - it felt refined and well thought out. RP seems to have put some good work into this. I actually ordered the 2nds from CI and a couple prime sticks of the same to compare. I've never ordered 2nds of any brand so thought for the money why not!? I was not disappointed. The 2nds had a slightly lighter wrap (Maduro) vs. prime sticks but you could barely see the blemish which caused its discount. It fired up well with my only complaint being the run on one side. From the first puff to the last it was a relaxing smoke, smelled good, felt good in the hand and drew well for a box press. The prime RP's seem a tad pricey - the 2nds offer a great way to get the same smoke on the cheap. P.S. Cigarbid.com has these up often and usually much cheaper than CI.

"The Seconds"
Couldn't see why they were seconds, looked good tasted great, I would say medium bodied. A little bit of draw problems at first though. Seconds cost pretty cheap too, only about 37 for 15 cigars.

"Not a True Maduro, but tasty!"
This Vintage had around 2 years in the humidor, which was a big help. The only thing is that even though it's called a maduro, it really doesn't have that rich, cocoa-like flavor of a maduro. But to tell you the truth thats okay because the taste of this well aged beauty was very flavorful in it's own right. I here the fusion is a hybred, this gar tasted like one too. You just need to try one. This stick was also attractive with it's burgandy and gold ban. The construction I found was adequate, the only problem being that it was slow to really catch and burned very hesitantly for the first couple of inches. Overall I found it a very enjoyable and tasty cigar

"Construction issues."
This one won't burn straight and I just found out why. There is a pin hole in the middle. I thought I was getting too much air. Not as tasty as I remember but a solid smoke just the same. Construction issues kill this one.

Expect nutty taste throughout. Draw was good and burn was a little uneven. Not as strong as I had heard. I was disappointed with this one, but not bad overall. Good average stick!!

"Smokescreen"
Lit this one up out on the porch with a fine old friend. He had his own Cuesta Ray, and we caught up with life over a beer and couple of fine cigars. It was dark and still you could see this RP was making a lot of smoke. Beautiful cigar, the flavor was smooth and delicious. Burn was uneven. Had to flame out the odd canoe. Had about ten months of humidor time on it. Overall a very nice cigar.

"Great everyday smoke..."
This is simply a beautiful cigar. Very dark and oily wrapper with a nice box press to it. The flavor is very toasty with a mild-medium strength. After smoking about 20 of these, I've still not gotten bored of the flavor. Only one of them was plugged. Burn wise, this cigar has the tightest, nicest looking ash you'll ever find. The caps can be slightly sloppy which can lead to some unraveling if you're not careful. There are some venders out there selling for about $5/stick or less, which make this an incredible value.

"Top 5 at a great price"
Just purchased a box of these because they are one of the best cigars you can buy at 3 bucks a pop. They are rich and flavorful with plenty of smoke. I have smoked several sizes and the toro and robusto work for me. It is true that once in a while you will have one burn uneven and have to touch it up but for this price you really can't complain. This cigar is in my top 5 with it's combination of flavor, dependability and value.

"Inconsistent"
The first one I got was absolutley incredible. Great complex flavors. Since then I have struggled to relive the first experience. Buying over a dozen singles at different times, about every second or third one is so tight I couldn't even draw on it. Very frustrating because the flavor is there you just can't get it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

"Vintage 1990 Rocky Patel"
Damn good smoke no doubt about it. After, hearing all of the hype and marketing that they do through CA, I decided I would give them a try. Wow, was I impressed, it's a nice medium bodied smoke that is creamy. It took me about an hour and a half to finish. A little on the pricey side cost me about ten bucks, but was well worth the money and time. Give it a try.

"Speechless"
The experience I had with this cigar was one of those rare occasions when I had to stop mid sentence and concentrate on what had just hit my palate. In the short year that I've been smoking cigars, that's only happened to me on three occasions. Since I'm still not up on the shole, woodsy, fruity, mocha-ey thing, I'll just say...It was a damn fine smoke. Flavorful, with an even burn (down to the nub) and one of the best smelling cigars I can remember. This type of smoking experience was the reason I took up cigars.

"Sure, it's comlplex. But that's about it."
Great marketing. There are alot of flavours in these cigars but with typical box-pressed issues of burn, I can't justify buying these Vintages over the RP Edge, which is more consistent in taste. If anyone hasn't smoked these yet (yeah right), it's absolutey worth having a handful in your humi for posterity.

"A very good year indeed...."
Much nicer than the 1992 Vintage RP, it is hard to believe something this dark can be so creamy. Woody with earth tones and hits of citrus and spice, this impeccably-crafted cigar has great draw and good burn. A good buy at $8-9 US.

"Excellent Smoke"
I have enjoyed the flavor of the 1992 vintage and was given this one for a try by my friend. The wrapper is beautiful and dark and smells like a mocha coffee. The foot also is very nicely scented with a hit of dark chocolate. The aroma of the smoke was very pleasant with a ton of it coming out with an easy draw. Very nice long finish as well. Would smoke again with out a doubt.

"Smooth and Tasty"
The 90 burns a little uneven, but it corrects itself, and the draw is quite good. Not a pretty stick, but it's broadleaf so the taste is going to take precedence over appearance. The taste is in fact very good. It’s a medium bodied, extremely smooth smoke up to the finish when it gets a bit heavier and the taste turns slightly tarry. The predominating flavors are wood and cherry. The broadleaf is very aromatic and worth the price of admission alone. All in all a very refined medium-bodied cigar. A great mid-day smoke.

"A 1990 dissapointment"
This cigar had a good flavor & aftertaste, but the burn was among the worst of any cigar I have ever smoked. I keep my cigars at 65% RH so it wasn't an issue of overhumidification. The burn was very uneven and the cigar tunneled a little. I gave up around halfway through it. The only way I plan on picking up any more of these is off of a cbid sampler.

"Mucho complexico"
Cedar, cherry, coffee, cream, leather and that's in the first half inch. Ash is a little flaky and dark silver. Full, easy draw and as much smoke as you want. Flavors begin to be taken over by a full tobacco taste at one inch and the strength moves to the strong of medium. The flavors come back if you smoke slowly and draw gently. The carousel of flavors continues throughout the smoke, they come, they go and they return in no certain order anchored to the constant cedar/wood core. Smoke slowly for nuance and faster for fuller body, either way enjoy.

This smoke has great flavor inside and out...I have to admit I like to chew my cigars some before I smoke them and this one was excellent. Better than the '92 witha rich smooth smoke that seems as though you are smoking air. I recommend everyone fills up their collection with atleast a box of these a month.

"Terrible construction!"
The local cigar shop had a Rocky Patel tasting night, so I bought a few including this 1990 Toro. It looked beautiful, but it ended up ruining my Sunday afternoon due to its amazingly terrible construction. Its dark wrapper promised a wealth of flavor, even though the cap was a bit sloppy. A small punch yielded an easy draw, but a half-inch into the burn the wrapper split at the three-quarter point, and the split kept spreading. Therefore, the burn crept under the loosened wrapper, which destroyed the nice flavor I had only begun to enjoy. Once the burn passed the split portion, I managed to get things evened out only to have a second split form at the one-third point. This split started as a small flaking of the wrapper, but then it grew and burst the whole wretched thing open. I have a few more Patels on hand; I hope these burn better!

"They almost got it just right"
A nice looking box pressed cigar with lots of flavor and a nice smooth medium body. The flavor consisted of cedar and cream (or chocolate and spice?). My only complaint about this cigar was the consistently uneven burn (common with some box pressed stogies) but the draw was great. A bit on the pricey side considering the burn issue but the flavor was excellent.

I was recomended to try one of these, and I can see why! I loved it. The flavor was very very nice. Very smooth and rich with flavor. However, after about halfway it started to become bitter. It kocked me right out. But none the less, a great smoke! If you've had a bad day, this would be a great cigar to make it all better.

"a Knock out"
This is every smokers dream to have the opportunity to wine and dine with friends and a cigar superstar, by the name of Rocky Patel. This experience just enhanced the lovely smoke that was touching my pallet. The appearance was just lovely with a silky wrapper and boxed press finish, construction was right on the mark with the foot lit and very even white ash this smoke was on its way to making the night even better. The notes of Rockys 12 year old were extraordinary with spicy and nutty notes that were not to strong and yet not to soft on the pallet. This cigar is a must try for any cigar lover and if given th chance to sit down with the maker to smoke one of his creations just makes it even better.

"Smooth and complex in flavor"
Even though this cigar is a bit larger than I usually prefer, I couldn't stop myself from smoking it down to the nub. My local shop hosted a Rocky Patel tasting and the 1990 Toro is what they gave me. First impression: So smooth! From light-up to the nub, it was never harsh in the least. And it also displayed a fantastic degree of complexity, with some citrus, nougat, mocha, faint sweetness and more, all intermingling and coming and going. I was so impressed I left with a fisful of various sizes of the 1990s, plus some Indian Tabac Boxers. I would make this a regular in my humi, but they're a little pricier than the Padrons I usually smoke. On the other hand, they're not exorbitant in cost, so maybe I'll end up with a box after I finish these singles!

"First Impression"
This cigar is one of the nicest looking cigars around. A beautiful box pressed toro. Flawless wrapper. These are also aged 12 years- which is considerably more than almost any other. This is all to say that I really wanted to love this cigar. This cigar has very distinct toast flavors and at some points, a burnt toast taste. For this reason, I dropped the flavor score a little since this was not my favorite kind of flavor in a cigar. It was a full-bodied smoke, not sure why Georgerp described as mild-medium, and held on through 2/3rds the way down. About the last 1/3 there were some large sweet notes amongst the toasty frame. The burn was great and the draw was good, but slightly tight. The finish was really good, and honestly my favorite part. The cigar actually calmed a bit in the end and had a some cream notes in and amongst the spiciness. Overall, this cigar was the fullest-bodied cigar I have had and I think that I should give it another chance with some more time in the humidor. I only gave this one a week in the humidor after I bought it.
