"Some minor issues"
I must have smoked a box worth of these sticks, so I know to expect great flavor and aroma at a reasonable price. Some say they don't care for Rocky, but how can you possibly disagree with this blend? Taste is subjective, but come on! However, the stick isn't perfect. Be careful clipping it, it's a single cap, and the wrapper has unraveled many times for me. Smoke very slowly, especially with this one. The last third gets bad, the tar build up seems excessive and flavor goes south. You can try purging it, but the best part is the first half.

"A favorite"
These are always beautiful, nice smooth wrapper, sleek with a little sheen. Draw a little tight usually, but not bad, it loosens up as the cigar warms. Pre-light taste of cranberries. This one smokes so smooth and chocolatey, a little coffee. No harshness. A mild-medium body, perfect for a lazy afternoon with a cup of joe. Never had a bad one. One of my favorite cigars but I now buy the 2nds on cbid because I don't like to spend $6.00 on a cigar unless it's a special occasion cigar and I smoke these too often for that. The seconds are half price and taste the same, so I don't have to hesitate when I feel like firing one up. Me and my money! haha

"My one-two punch"
That's how I feel about the 90 & 92 Vintage--both are outstanding! Both are very elegant looking cigars, packed with tobacco. The draw on the 92's I've had is extremely tight (golfball-thru-a-hose tight.) The foot puts out tons of aromatic smoke. Burn is perfect, ash is impressive. Complex. Wonderful sweet chocolate, nuts & some cinnamon spice to start, pepper & a raisin-bread like flavor take over midstick. Smooth coffee & cream finish. Developed some bitter grassiness in the final third, purging x2 helped get rid of it. Medium body & mild/med strength. Fantastic 90 minute smoke.

"I Love This Cigar"
I just got a box of the Vintage 92 Robusto's, and tried one that very night. It was a fantastic smoke, which had a very nice flavor and was about as smooth as it gets. The burn, appearance, and construction were perfect. Considering the box was under $100 from thecigarstore.com, I would say that these are a decent value as well. I am really looking forward to smoking one of these with a single malt, and would recommend them to anyone.

"My favorate Patel"
This Patel is one that I would buy a whole box of. I tend to smoke cuban and nicaraguan (puros) cigars, and this falls right in line even though it is a blend. It is full-flavored and medium-bodied, in that it has a sweet cocoa and creamed coffee characteristic, but it does not knock you on your butt with spice. The burn is near perfect, and the price is very agreeable. If you like a little sweetness in your cigars, try this one.

"An excellent go-to cigar"
I always keep some of the Vintage line on hand, and it's for this very reason: if I want a solid smoke this is Captain Consistent. First of all, the wrapper is gorgeous: almost always vein free, dark and textured. Once you punch it, give it some time in your mouth before lighting it: it tastes amazing without having to even fire it up. With that said, give it some toasting, light it, let it settle and relax. I smoked the '92 with a cup of coffee on my patio, and remembered why it's always on hand. The smoke is volumous... the cigar takes little times settling into it's characteristicly semi-sweet, almost chocolate-like profile. The taste is amazing: the finish is silky smooth, it's nowhere near bitter even down to the nub. The only drawback is the burn. At times it can be uneven, and I have found a couple that had weak construction flaws in the filler. Happily, these are extremely minor and never hampered the experience. Easy draw, somewhat uneven burn (I'll live, they've never canoed or unraveled on me) and held a superbly firm ash: my ashtray speaks volumes for this smoke... three nearly identical 1.5" ashes, and a finger-burning nub. Always, always, always keep a few on hand... and tuck a few away: they age for the better.

"Kinda hyped"
I like rocky patel, I think he makes some decent cigars, but I'm not sure why the vintage series is rated as high as it is. Out of about the 20 different vintages i've had ('90 and '92 from different shops, sampler packs, and friends) half have a very tough draw. I like the cocoa cameroon "aged" flavor, but I just can't draw enough - way too tight. And the tough draw sometimes leads to some burn problems. The tabbaco blend is great, but the construction is usually below average, which turns me off to both vintage series. Rocky patel "fusion" which is supposed to be a blend of the two with a little something else has fixed the draw problem. When I do get a good vintage though, it's great - but those are few and far between. Not very consistent.

"Flip a coin"
On the 90 or the 92 that is. I have a box of '90 Torps and this box of '92 robs. I guess I lean to the '90 blend but I love this one too. Haven't pulled one of these out in probably a year and it is very similar to the last. A nice natural sweetnes, great aroma, and full flavors in a medium bodied smoke. A very satisfying stick that has a unique core that I stopped trying to figure out and just enjoy. Between the two years the '92's that I own have an edge in construction over the '90; but they are both pretty.

"Rocky...the people's champ"
After a long hard dissatisfying 10 hour day at my place of business, I decided to pick up my friend Rocky for a little late night relaxation. After mulling over the sweet aroma for a few minutes I spotted some vintage 92s I just had to try. They were small in size but not lacking flavor and ripe for the toking. The 92 was harsh at first, but as the flame burned, the rich cedar taste took me by surprise. The flame and ash was reminicent of liquid hot magma burning atop the fabled ring of fire. As this generation X beauty burned, the ashes hardened atop the flame, dying to be set free from the pleasure storm they had just participated in. This cigar was not meant for flavor, it was meant to make your "jewels" quench for the love of a woman's lips. In rockys line this gar is second in overall satisfaction to his REO line. Great smoke.

"good stuff"
I aged this guy at least a year, saving it until i felt compelled to smoke it. I just decided to pull it out this day and light it up... wasn't disappointed. Having smoked the Euro version churchill 90, I didn't have a great opinion of the RP vintage. Since I'm more of a medium body fan, I thought the euro version, with less ligero, would be up my ally. Nevermind that idea, the american version is a whole lot better. the 92's wrapper had a nice consistency and was constructed very well. this was a pleasure to smoke, with a subtle sweet taste that reminded me of many a honduran cigar. Unfortunately that really dominated the experience and didn't show much complexity.

"A second and a Bargain"
I was pretty impressed with the 92 Vintage Robusto. The bundle was picked up as seconds from CI; you don't get an individual label or a perfectly colored cigar--other than that you enjoy the same quality tobacco that makes this an exceptional smoke. Perfect draw, even burn (with some canoeing occasionally); the box pressing makes this cigar a pleasure to hold. A steal at the bundle price. Rocky rocks!

"Seconds Just as Good as Firsts"
I first purchased this from my local smoke shop for $6.50. Wonderful, smooth, and tasty. I came across the the seconds offered by the 15 pack bundle on Cigars International for a shipped price of $44.95, that's $3.00 a stick. The description said how these were seconds strictly for cosmetic reasons and if you smoked them blindfolded you would't be able to tell the difference between the firsts and the seconds. Skeptical, but never wanting to turn down a deal I ordered a bundle. Did I say deal? Make that a steal! I'm now on my fourth bundle of these so called seconds as they have taken up full time residence in my humidor. The description said that these cigars come in the round, but not so of the Robustos(5.5x50). Every bundle I've received has been box pressed, and silky smooth and tasty. No box, no band, but for over 50% off the price of the firsts I think I can deal. A Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 for an everyday cigar. Now we're talking.

"Just keeps getting better"
I’m up-grading my first review. Last night I sat down and lit the first one of these smoked in a couple of months. With probably 6 months in the humi this thing sings! It’s more like eating candy than smoking a cigar. From the pre-taste and light to the reluctant end I enjoyed this stick. The band is typically where I begin to get REAL tired of most sticks but with this cigar I felt like I had just begun. Coffee, cocoa, vanilla? (Yeah, I know I hate hearing crap like this too) were all flavors inside a mellow/smooth cigar with more smoke than should be legal. My only complaint and trust me it can be lived with is the almost weird way it just would go out a couple of times. One moment it was lit the next it was not. Re-lighting was a breeze though. You have to give this stick a try, it’s very good.

"My first RP"
I had never tried a Rocky Patel product so when the opportunity to pick up five of these from CBid for 3 bucks ea. came up I reluctantly pulled the trigger. What a wonderful, medium bodied aromatic cigar this is, not only to smoke, but also to look at. A very dark oily wrapper with an almost perfect complexion and square pressed giving this stick additional character. The draw was just right and the burn incredibly even for the environment I was in (wind) This is a very slow burning cigar, taking me well over 70 minutes to absorb but it never got hot, provided massive amounts of smoke and an incredibly tasty smoking experience. Cocoa, coffee, vanilla, pepper and spice were all noticeable flavors associated with this stick. I had to relight twice but once was my fault and unfortunately the wrapper at the head of the stick needed to be clipped so it would not hang up in my mouth. My guess is this is an extreme rarity because the balance of the sticks construction was superb. I can only imagine how much better these are going to be after a few months in the humi. If you are searching for another near perfect cigar that costs less than $5 bucks here is one that comes mighty close.
Will I buy more of these? Yep!

"My Favorite Recent Release"
Let me start off by informing any and all about to read this review ... do NOT let Rocky Patel see this, or he just might jack up the prices of these 1992 Vintages. YOU MUST-MUST- MUST TRY THIS CIGAR !!! And they keep getting better with age, as I smoke one every couple of months or so. This RP 1992 is one of, if not my favorite cigar, of those which have been released in the last couple of years. A smooth and oily to the touch wrapper, light brown with perhaps a slightest red hue. Some very tiny fine veins, not even noticeable to the touch. The best construction, packed firm with tobacco, box pressed into a square, and still allowing a perfect punch and great draw. Nice even burn. I am guessing it has a medium body, but the smoke is so delicate and buttery smooth, it is mild on the palate. Such as I have only experienced in cigars that are at least twice as expensive. This, plus a taste among the finest, earns a 10 score in Overall Experience for this little sweetheart. So tasty. A complex bouquet of several light undertones, which all come together in a marvelous collection, producing a delicious flavor treat. Fruit and wood and bread and nuts and on and on and on. I know I am raving, but that is how much I am enjoying this. It is an experience that is actually reminding me of smoking a Padron Millennium. I scored several 5 packs at auction for $12. There is no way I could find anything close to these at $2.40 per smoke. But, even if one pays around $5 retail, you will not find anything close to being as fine, unless spending at least twice or three times as much. I have 5 more 5 packs left, and I still keep an eye out for a sale or deal, and would certainly gobble up some more. That is how much I love these 1992 RP robustos. Delightful.

"Nice cigar"
I had a Vintage 1990 the other nite and compared to the 1992, it's no match. The 1992 is superior in many ways. First the appearance: nice box press, and alluring you to smoke it. Taste: definitely strong medium with hints of pepper and leather (meaning strong taste). Generally, very smooth though and buttery aftertaste. I won these on Famous Smoke so they arrived in great shape, better than CBID. The 1st and 2nd thirds were great and last 3rd much more peppery and some harshness. Burn: nice white/grey type ash and the first ash burned to almost 1.5" before falling off. The other ashes were .5" in length. Draw: very nice, medium, not too loose nor tight. No relightings or touch-ups and this is just 2-3 days after receiving them in the mail. Overall, very nice cigar, which I got at $4.5 per stick. I'd definitely have these again at this price.

"Highest Recommendations!"
First...I like a good vintage cigar, if of adequate power in both strength and flavor...which IMHO, if lacking in those categories, is not worth smoking...I had high expectations with these, and I was not let down in the slightest...to me, everything about this '92 line is very appealing; the wrappers are immaculate, the roll is good (could be a bit tighter, although a bullet punch does well to compensate for this), the pre light aroma, and flavor is utterly enticing, they are well balanced and spongey and comfortable in the hand....Initial phase is as expected from a good vintage, very rich, mellow start and into the 1st phase, black cherry is dominate, with supporting notes of butter and smooth, rich spice....2cnd phase you'll become aware of the power, which I would call medium to full....3rd phase and finnish; astounding complexity, black cherry has now nicely mingled with butter, walnut, pecan, cumin, and is very spicey on the palate....I am more than pleased with this Vintage 1992 line from RP, I just bought a box; beautiful, simple, elegant presentation that highlights the perfect wrappers....a very classy cigar that I will treasure indefinately...Ten years age pre-roll, 4 and a half years age post-roll....extraordinary....my highest recommendations, but not for the faint of heart.

Recommended by my shop, and wow. Box pressed, beautiful construction. Smooth coffee woody taste. Plenty of dense smoke and rich flavors. Such a kick when I tried it. It had a slightly spicy finish. Slight uneven start, but burned even afterwards. Nothing horrible and didn't affect smoking at all. medium to full bodied. After half, changed to a chocolatey and woody, no spice taste. Had a buzz going. Once past name label, it got a bit hot and the spice came back. Finished at the nubb with burn fingers. Worth the 6.50 it goes for. I paid more because I went to Davidoff at Columbus Circle where everything is overpriced. Still worth it.

Subtly pressed and a bit rugged, but the wrapper color is excellent. It smokes nearly flawlessly and puts out a huge amount of smoke. It's lightly earthy and chocolatey throughout with a nutty pistachio flavor appearing in the second half of the smoke. Right fronm the start, this cigar is much stronger than the 1990 version RP, but it's also much more flavorful. It holds a pronounced floavor of coffee and nuts from start to finish, along with traces of sweet citrus. However, mine suffered from bad construction; the head split for no apparant reason, and it grew mushy and soft with more than one third remaining. I was hoping this $5 cigar would be a bargain Padron Anniversary, but I'd rather smoke a regular Padron, such as the 2000 maduro, for less money.

"Among the best"
I have had a few of these cigars and the are among the best that I have tried. Lots of flavor without an overpowering body. Smooth rich taste, nice burn with a perfect ash. A very attractive looking cigar too. Well done!

"Smooth"
Wasn't expecting this to be better than the 1990 counterpart, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything about this cigar was smooth: the dark wrapper, the draw and the full flavor. This cigar is on the medium side of full and provides loads of smoke. At $6.50 paid, I feel that this is a value compared to other more expensive cigars and, because of that, would highly recommend it.

"Goes the distance"
Nicely box pressed & solid. It has a rich looking dark wrapper. This cigar booms out a lot of smoke. Starts out with a rough, full bodied, kick. Some light sweetness comes forward & some nice spice tones. It mellows back to medium to full, with some nice interchanging flavors & aromas. The full bodied aspect returns as you get close to the nub. Go figure. This cigar goes the distance & has a nice finish. Reminds me of a cross between a Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 & an Oliva Master Blend.

"A Perfect Smoke"
Just one perfect cigar and smoke. Excellent smooth dark Ecuadorian wrapper that lead to a beautiful burn with a long white ash. The Medium to full bodied flavor was a perfect balance of coffee and cedar with a long pleasant finish. One excellent cigar!

"Average Vintage"
I thought this was just an okay smoke. I did notice a few different spices, but nothing to rave about.

"Great"
Dark, tight box press that looks very nice. Great flavor, burn and draw. I just can't say anything bad about this cigar.
