Made by hand in the Dominican Republic, this line is medium in strength, using tobaccos from many nations to create a complex taste. A cigar with a light wood character. It is mild to medium bodied. It has a toast flavor, and a hint of sweetness on palate.

This cigar was made in May of '99 at the havana factory. what a beautiful cigar. From it's appearance (a burnt umber color) with a nice oily sheen, to it's myriad of ever changing flavours, to it's wonderful balance, finishing strong right to the nub. WOW

"Dead Man's Hand..."
This medium bodied Cigar is my choice for poker. It burns resonably well and has a nic colored ash. It isn't amazingly constructed but it is made as cigars should be made. The flavor is a bit of a one trick pony, but if you like that one flavor you'll have it for close to two hours. It's very smooth and has a very smokey flavor. In all honesty the aroma is more enjoyable than the flavor per se. Good value for a Cuban and an overall enjoyable experience you will want to smoke one again, just don't expect to be blown away. In terms of looks, it'll make lots of folks think twice about calling you on the river and the gold band screams elegance.

Good tobacco flavor, but very little complexity for a 10 year old cigar. Pretty good draw, though the burn had some minor issues. I would rather smoke a Cazadore if I want the straight tobacco flavor, they are much more enjoyable and seem to be a better quality tobacco.

"The long day"
The cigar was some what oily on the brown wrapper. It also had just the hint of bloom from the 3 year age in the humi. The cap cut with no end trails and the foot took the flame even. The smoke was big and pleasant on the start. The half way point was a little hot and had some occasional dry notes. All in all the smoke was very good a medium smoke with wood and some earthy aftertaste.

"A wonderful journey"
I can't say enough about this cigar. The Julieta Churchill has the length and complexity to produce a very memorable experience. Being one of the larger cigars smoking it can be like a long journey of flavor, which the more cigars I smoke the more I look forward to this. It tasted woody, floral, nutty, and had some vanilla thrown in there too. These are the best Churchills I smoke. Simply excellent.

The best I've had thus far. But I have only smoked sub-par cigars. The packing was tight, and the guy who gave it to me said it was a little dry. Even so...it burned evenly and I puffed on it for about an hour in 30 degree weather. It was great! Creamy and smooth! Definately worth getting your hands on.

"a great habano"
This habano is a classic. The wrapper has an amazing taste from the moment it is lit. A very firm draw, slightly more firm than I prefer. The cigar has notes of wood and earth for the first third or so. Second third unleashes lots of powerful tobacco flavors with smooth sweet undertones of coffee and leather. Some burn issues but nothing big. A very unique taste and a must try for all churchill smokers.

"wow- awesome smoke"
I had my first Cuban Romeo y Julieta Saturday night. A friend from London brought a box of Churchill tubos over for a pre-wedding golf game in Monterey, CA.

Initially, I was amazed to see one- I must say I was star-struck. I felt as if I had found the holy grail. Maybe I was being a bit dramatic- its just a cigar, after all.

The cigar looked great- the slightest sheen on the wrapper; no noticeable veins; like a light milk chocolate stick.

The cigar tasted and smelled great pre-light. The wrapper tasted good- slightly sweet, but not like a flavored cigar or anything.

After lighting, the cigar was very creamy smooth and totally satisfying. I was noticing some other herbal undertones and some vanilla. Very consistant smoke, flavor-wise. some slight spiciness and pepper added about half way into the smoke.

I don't normally enjoy longer smokes- I usually get a bit bored with anything over a robusto. I would have been happy if that smoke had been 10" long, however. If I ever get the chance to smoke another, I will jump at the chance. Probably the most satisfying cigar experience I have had. The company and the occasion has something to do with it, but it was a very memorable smoke.

"Revisted"
Had me another one from 85 and it was fantastic. As smooth and creamy as the ones before but this one had more cuban kick. Company has alot to do with a fine cigar. This time it was smoked during a very good friends 50th b-day on a virtual herf celebrating. Happy birthday and thank you Joe. It seemed more like my birthday because the b-day boy supplied the munitions. Wifey sitting next to me while we celebrated with a number of friends virtually, lively banter and a couple great cigars. Smooth and creamy that built to very spicey and potent climax. Very well balanced and complex to the end and pow what a finish. If you can an aged one, jump on it. Worth whatever the price. Great Great cigar. A 10 in experience because of cigar and especially the company in which it was smoked. Oh yeah and Pappy toasts didn't hurt one iota.

"Eh..."
Pretty good. Definitely smooth, at least for the first half. Not that it ever became harsh, but it definitely lost its silkiness by the second half. It started off with light cedar flavors with some cream and was exceptionally smooth and mild. After the mid-point, it became more cedary and a little rough, but never aggressive. In the last quarter, it had some burn problems and died on me a couple times, but I was ready to toss it by that point. All in all, not bad. It would pair nicely with a good coffee. I paid $25 for it at LCDH which I feel is way too high, but I’m glad I tried it. I won’t be repeating the experience at that price though!

That brought me back to smoking cigars again, I'd been smoking a few cigars again a few years back when my nephew brought me one of these, to say I enjoyed it would be an understatement, well ever since i've been slipping down the slope farther and farther. I was fortunate enough to be gifted another at a recent herf. Probably the smoothest cigar that I've ever smoked. Not a strong cigar but tasty and smooth. Beautiful creaminess that I couldn't get enough. A great cigar in my estimation.

"Sunday Afternoon Smoke"
Good looking with a little vein and almost perfectly constructed. Plenty of smoke from the first puff and flavour profile much like other RyJ, nutty to start growing to tobacco and leather. Values not great but the tobacco tax in the UK is a joke and hits bigger cigars harder so for the money I’ll take the #2 Tubos every time. Overall a very nice slow, medium body smoke, not full enough to finish off a heavy meal, but a perfect easy afternoon smoke.

...to lend his name to this first class smoke. At first sight, you know it is a serious stice. Beautiful oily, lush wrapper. Complex flavor profile with nuts, cream and a hint of chocolate. Mild to mid spice with a smooth finish that lingers on the palate...but not too long. What a well balanced cigar. My only complaint was exactly what someone mentioned in a previous review...it was very hard to pull a consistent draw. Outside of that, it was spectacular.

"The Standard for Churchills"
Have smoked these for over 6 years now.....when they are right the are 10's and I consider them the standard for which all other churchills are measured. When not right 7 or even less. Problem is consistancy of draw. I always smoke a single from a box before I buy. The cigars within the box are fairly consistant but differences are between boxes. Ratings are for cigars without draw problems!

"My first, so I may be biased"
On 7 February 2005, I was introduced to cigars by a friend with one of these. Like a first girlfriend, or losing one's "innocence", memories are strong but may not be accurate. You remember the good and can't seem to remember the bad. Anyway, I only remember good. Creamy, perfect burn, wrapper supple and delicious. I've been hooked ever since. I'd have rated the values as a 10, since it was a gift, I couldn't have paid any less. I'm guessing the price in order to enter the required value. I'm rating the overall experience as a 9, though, to leave room for superior smokes later. I've had one other Cuban, an H. Upmann Sir Winston but I preferred this. I didn't marry my first girlfriend. A perfect "marriage" between smoker and his smoke should factor in affordability and the ability to enjoy regularly for a lifetime. You might dream about a night (or a few) with Angelina Jolie, but trust me, you don't want the baggage of being married to her. Therefore a 10 is, to me, a relative experience, and I'd never give a 10 to any woman but my wife. I'm still searching for my "10" of cigars, but this unforgettable stick was awfully close.

"Nice smoke"
Very nice looking cigar that is well constructed with a great draw and an even burn. The taste is a little too woodsy for me, but I still enjoyed the cigar. I did not get the citrus flavor that the reviews say this cigar has, but overall it was a good experience. The Canadian shop that I purchased this from charges too much for their cigars, but the value is not bad from other locations.

Very Impressive looking cigar and great value compared to some of the other Churchills. Smooth and mild with great taste of sweet and woody spices. Unfortunately I perfered smaller cigars like the grand coronas.

"Great Flavors but Terrible Draw"
This is the first, and so far the only, Cuban cigar I've ever smoked. Being an American, I bought and smoked one in Canada. Delicious cocoa/coffee flavors and good construction. However, it had such a firm draw that it seriously dampened the overall experience. It was all I could do to get any smoke out of it. Ran me $18.25 and wasn't worth half that. I've read that Cubans in recent years have been plagued with an extremely tight draw. Therefore, non-Cubans are a much better value. I experienced very similar flavors in C.A.O.'s L'Anniversaire Churchill and its draw was fine and it only ran $6. If this is what a typical Cuban cigar is like, then I'm forgetting Cubans.

"Smooth, the reference cigar"
This is the reference cigar for me. All others follow. This creamy flavorful cigar had an easy draw, even burn and very little aftertaste. Its not complex or spicy and it makes for an enjoyable moment. One drawback, the wrapper construction left a bit to be desired.

"Salute this Churchill"
Got a box of these...still half in my humidor. So far, most a great, but still run across inconsistencies in the construction. When you get a good one its great - complex flavors, great draw and lots of smoke. But the bad ones make you wonder whether its worth the price to pay. Still, one of the best Cubans around - if you are lucky enough to get a good one.

"Is that all there is?"
I picked up a few of these (in the silver tubes)on a trip to China. I was underwhelmed with this cigar. For a Cuban, I was expecting so much more. The burn was very good, it just didn't have that much flavor.... left me thinking..is that all there is? Give me a Padron 1964 any day over this overrated cigar and I'd take it without hesitation.

"An abandoned couple..."
...of RyJ Churchills was lying on top of the fridge of a non smoking friend, as an unloved gift. They were dry and started to unravel. My friend had no objection for me to try to salvage them, so I took away the cigars, I lulled them like babies and put them in my best humidor. One year after, I smoked one and offered a friend the other one. The two RyJC had come back: despite some minor wrapper problem, due to the initial lack of care, they were back to life, and gave the best: a smooth, quite powerful smoke, with the usual subtle flavours of cocoa and earth. Those cigars are great, almost at par with Esplendidos.

"Tubo version"
This cigar was beautifully made with a perfect triple cap. Cigar appeared evenly but tightly packed. Draw was somewhat tight almost all the way down but didn't interfere too much with the experience. Burn was perfect, taste was exceptional. Smooth and full of flavors. I had to purge it twice and relight once on the way down. This cigar gave me more than 90 minutes of a great smoking experience and despite the cost, was a great value in my book.

"Quick mention"
So much to be said about this cigar, just had to add 3 quick points.
1) the churchills in the aluminum tubes, 200% better then others
2) consistancy is key, they make so many they do tend to vary
3) got to mention this. many cigars change as you smoke them, getting better, or more bitter, whatever. this cigar, without a doubt, changes more than any cigar as it is smoked. it starts innocent and fresh (almost like cream and vanilla) and ends up as a powerful "ol school" smoke. when its good, it's VERY good, if not the best.

"A nice smoke"
I've enjoyed two of these Churchills. One in late 2003 and one this month. This cigar is milder than an Esplendido. The appearance is excellent, nice coloring and the gold label is attractive. This cigar burned evenly, to my surprise - it really adjusted for what was a poor light. The flavor of this cigar eluded me - it contained a "softness" to the draw that I could not place - almost like Earl Grey with cream? Please keep in mind, that no cigar really TASTES like Earl Grey with cream unless you've just dropped the cigar into a cup of Earl Grey with cream! What I mean is that the flavor reminded me of the soft aftertaste left in your mouth after having Earl Grey with cream. The cigar was bit on the high side considering that you easily can purchase a Padron Anniversary, Fuente 8-5-8, Carlos Torano, Montecristo Serie VI for far less with similarly smooth and pleasant flavors - many of these cigars would not be as refined a smoke as the RyJ, but $28 was a bit steep for this cigar. I believe $10-$15 would be a deal for this cigar. With this said, it would be folly to destroy the cigar's rating for what I agreed to pay for it...

"Underrated?"
Is it possible for a cigar to be underrated at 8.76? Maybe.

Esplendidos get all the attention, and they're great, but these cigars are easily as good, and they cost half as much.

The burn is excellent, the draw (if you don't over-humidify) is just firm enough, and you get lots of thick smoke. There's a wonderful spiciness, a notch lower than the Cohiba, along with hints of cedar. There is just nothing wrong with this cigar.

You can smoke these down to your fingertips, too.

Truthfully, if I were on a desert island with only one brand, I might very well pick these over the Cohibas.

"Wow!"
This tubo has been sitting in my humidor for quite some time. I would say that this one had close to a year of age on it. Unfortunatly I did not get the box code. Several previous smokes from the same box had were plugged. This one was a gem, lots of smoke and a smooth draw. The wrapper was smooth with only a couple of small blemishes. Highly refined. Bursting with spice and power. The smoke alone was intoxicating. I don't know anything about this smoke being creamy or nutty. Perhaps a bit leathery. This is one of the spiciest and most powerful Cubans I have ever smoked.
