"Rolled to tight for me"
This is a dang good tasting smoke, if you can get some smoke. I have tried to smoke 3 of them now over 4 months and they don't seem to be getting any looser in the draw. I do love the flavor though.

"Depth of Character"
Awesome complexity in this medium bodied cigar. A honeylike, floral prelight flavor also came thru in the first third, which also imparted a nice woody character I've come to expect from RyJ. The second third was extremely pleasant: some sweet spice and a taste like chocolate muffins! The final third turned nutty, adding some black cherry notes. Short finish of coffee & cream, with a woody aftertaste. Perfect ash, razor straight burn. If it wasn't for the extremely tough draw that others have complained of, construction on this would be perfect. Probably caused by the tightly packed tobacco and box press. Overall, though, a great cigar.

"Impressed, especially with the last third"
I have read the hype and the less than impressed reviews of this cigar. Had to try it. I like full bodied cigars so I wasn't expecting a "blown away" experience. After lighting it, it was fairly unimpressive and milder than I would have liked. Aw well, I said, at least it was $3. As the smoke built, it got creamer and more complex. The last third of this smoke was absolutely wonderful with all of the aforementioned flavors apparent. I actually put it down when I thought I was done and got after it again until it was the last inch. I had though about sending my brother some in the mail, since he just sent me some Cuban Cohiba's but I am reluctant to do so. I think I'll just tell him about 'em. This is a cigar that everyone must have in their humidor. I will buy more, for sure.

"Disappointing"
I was really looking forward to these as RyJ has a good rep. For starters, the draw is horrible. Even letting them sit a month it was bad. The taste is bitter pretty much from start to finish. Not much of a kick either. On a couple of the 5-pack I ordered the wrapper started coming undone towards the last third. It's no wonder these are on sale at CI.

"love, hate."
Found this cigar to be true to the claim, a very sweet, smooth and good tasting cigar.
This cigar reminds me of the R & J 1875 classic blend, But with a different wrapper.
And “ yes “this stick dose has a tight draw!

"Same Problem-Its Crazy"
I don't know what the deal is with these, but I've had the same problem as the 2 reviewers below me!!! They look and smell delicious but there is literally NO draw when you get one going. And like those below me I've rodded mine, rolled em to loosen em up, moved em to different humidors, everything-no help at all. I can understand 1, maybe 2 bad apples, but I've tried over 10 and had the exact same problem with every single one. It is SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!! I would LOVE to actually be able to smoke one, but I can't.

"No Draw = No Smoke = No Thanks!!"
OK there's no way this cigar should be brining anything close to a score of 8. So, I'm just doing this to bring it down because I purchased 20 of them on a CI special and have yet to be able to smoke one because they won't draw period.

"PISSED!!!"
After reading the steller reviews about this cigar I decided to take CI up on an offer of 10 E's for $29. Great Deal - Right? WRONG!! THEY WON'T SMOKE. I bought 20 and so far NONE of them has had a even fair draw. They look great, smell good, but THEY WON'T SMOKE. I don't think they are packed too tightly - I've smoked tighter. I don't what what the problem is but it's definately been consistant with the 10 I've tried to smoke, I've thown 10 away. BIG WAIST OF MONEY AND TIME TRYING TO GET THESE TO DRAW I EVEN RODDED ONE TONIGHT AND IT STILL WOULDN'T SMOKE. THERE ARE DEFINATELY BETTER SMOKES TO BE HAD AND I'M NOT THE FIRST TO COMPLAIN ABOUT CIGAR NOT DRAWING.

"Very reliable but a bit boring."
Got one of these in a large event sampler. Being the only one of its kind I had in my humidor, I decided to let it sit a few months. A very beautiful wrapper and the prelight aroma is very pleasing, something like a caramel/spicy sweet candy bar. The smoke itself was extremely smooth but I was hoping for more volume of smoke. Unfortunately the prelight aroma did not transfer itself much into the smoke as the flavor was very one dimensional. However, the cigar was smooth and pleasant all the way to the nub so a great cigar despite the unfulfilled promise of the prelight aroma. The draw became a little tough towards the end of the cigar but a quick roll in between the fingers helped loosen the draw.

"Keeps getting better!"
My review in November '07 was from the same box (May 07) as the two I smoked over the weekend. What a great smoke! It sucks that toomanychoices had draw issues as I have put away over about 20 of these now from samplers, 5-packs, and the box I have. All of mine have had perfect construction and burn with ample flavors of cinnamon, caramel, toast, and wood. An absolute nubber every single time. At $3.20 a stick this is a go-to big time.

"Surprise,Surprise!"
I have to agree with some of the other reviews, this is nothing like any R&J I have ever smoked. It reminded me of a Padron 64 - not spicy but creamy with notes of caramel. I just got a box last week and I can't wait to see how they age!

"poor draw"
After reading the high praises of this cigar, I got a five pack to try the out. I'm a huge fan of Rocky Patel products; their draw, flavor, burn and consistency are hard to beat. It's rare that I find smokes that I enjoy better. I've tried four of the R&J Viejo's so far and they all had a very poor draw; the one last night I had to throw away after failing to get a half decent draw. I gave it about ten minutes, but the plug or poor roll didn't improve. My humi is fine, so it's not an issue of too much humidity. When I did get some smoke, the flavor was vety nice, cocoa, coffee and leather. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it's frustrating to spend good money, then have an unjoyable experience. I may try these in the future, but I'll stick to my RP's for now.

"What a great smoke!"
I went through two five packs in about three weeks and ordered a box from CI. These are one of the most consistent smokes I have had in years. A thick smooth walnut colored wrapper that smells like cookies in the oven when it's lit. A solid medium strength, med-full flavors that are SO consistent throughout. The construction is top notch with every one having the perfect draw and burning razor sharp with about three ashes dropping for the total smoke. I usually prefer something stronger that tells me a story (changing each third). This doesn't change a whole lot from beginning to end but it tastes so damn good I don't care! Agree completely with the descriptions of caramel notes, touch of cinnamon (rare) and a consistent core flavor from stick to stick I can't put my finger on. I cannot imagine anyone from newbie to veteran not enjoying this stick. I hadn't had one in close to 2-months and grabbed one last night. I have gone out to the ashtray a couple times today to gaze at the butt like it was the prom queen laying in my bed. Totally impressed and to echo CrazFool; Altadis? Really? Nice work boyos. Unlike an orally challenged date this one will never give you any bite or make you flintch=o) Smoooooooth.

"Oh My God!"
What a stellar cigar! Flawless from start to finish. I agree with other reviews on the taste. Like smoking a good cup of coffee with caramel on the back end of it. Wrapper was perfect as was the draw. Nothing bad to say about it at all. Honestly one of the best I've had to date from Romeo y Julieta.

"Best R&J I've had"
I don't smoke alot of r&j because they tend to be too mild for my tastes. This one is not. This is a very nice cigar. Lots of white smoke and an even burn. Loads of earthy, leathery, creamy flavors.

"Give me more"
This has to be the best dam Romeo y Julieta on the market. With a lovely oily wrapper that is attractive and smooth. The foot lit with lots of smoke and the warm notes to come. The taste was medium to full with rich cedar and some spicy notes on the tail end. The finish was creamy with earth and leather. One to have in your humi.

"Still in SHOCK!!"
Altadis made this?? And for CI and Cigar.com ONLY??? this is by far the best Romeo (NC of course) and the best 'Client Order' cigar EVER. Ive had Pepins Old Henrey (made for Holts) and the CI Legends and Rocky Patels Cuban (for Famous) and they all tasted like a smoke not worthy of massive world wide sale- so good, dont get me wrong, but these Veijos are a classic and CI has it good, this is a true gem.

Dont over look this because its a Altadis or Romeo. Its Steller. A Mixture of Pepins Burnt Sugary flavor and Padrons Cocoa flavors. Try a box, and enjoy the extra 5 (CI freebie!) the E and C are the best 🙂

"What a terrific cigar."
Quite smooth, medium-bodied, yet plenty of flavor. Not a sleepy cigar, this one nonetheless is never harsh, and I've smoked about a quarter of the box so far. It's a nice cigar if I need something a little on the light side, but it doesn't lack character...good flavors of caramel, leather and a little coffee. It's like smoking a grande capuccino with a shot of carmel, unsweetened. Never had a burn problem, wrapper peel, etc.

"The Best R&J Yet"
If you took the band off this cigar, you would be hard pressed to guess it was a R & J. Looks like a fatter Padron 1964. Dark and oily wrapper. Square pressed. Sweet fermented tobacco smell pre-light. Good construction and burn. The centerpiece is the flavor. Delicious. Carmelized sugars, earth and deep round tobacco flavors. I really enjoy this style. If you like the Rocky Patel vintage series, or the Padron 64 maduros, I think you will really like this. A real winner for R & J. As good as cigars costing 2x as much.
