"Great Smoke, Great Price"
This cigar has plenty of flavors including a creamy chocolate and coffee with a little woody flavor. It was a well made cigar and the maduro wrapper looked great, quite dark. It was a very smooth, but also 1 dimensional smoke.

"A hidden gem"
A beatiful and aromatic maduro wrapper surrounds this medium bodied, full flavor smoke. It has consistant flavor throughout the smoking experience, nice flavors of chocolate and wood. Has a even burn, nice white ash, and plenty af smoke. A little hard to draw in the begining but opens up later. I suggest drinking a Sam Adams Black Lager with this smoke.

"Good One Dimensional Maduro"
Appearance and Construction: This review is based on a one-time smoke of this cigar. The SLR had a nice dark wrapper and appeared well made. I cut the cigar with a v-notch cutter, but will use a regular guillotine cutter next time, as I did not get as smooth a draw as I would have liked. This may be on account of the cigar's density, which gives it a solid feel between your fingers. Flavor: The cigar was not too good at first, but developed after a few minutes to reveal a medium/full bodied character that was good, but one dimensional. To me it had a straight forward tobacco flavor with none of the little nuances of a good HdM, LGC, or RP Edge Maduro. In fact, if I smokes it blind, I would not necessarily identify the cigar as a maduro. The one dimensional flavor stayed constant as I smoked the cigar past the band. It was not harsh and left a nice aftertaste. I will definitely smoke this again for a change of pace.
Value: This is a very good value and one among many good choices that are available in this price range.

The size color of the wrapper make this cigar really a stunning package. the construction was solid on the verge of over stuffed. upon light up the draw was perfect. the burn even and the ash stayed on half way. the flavor of coffee with cream turning in to dark chocolate. this enjoyable smoke is bold without being harsh and a value for $2.95 A must have for anyone who loves a rich smoke with out a rich price.

"Among the best value smokes out there"
Man I love this cigar. I would easily pay 2x's as much for these. A nice looking maduro, the SLR Rothchild Maduro is a big smoke for the size. It feels hefty in the hand, and is absolutely packed solid with tobacco. It really does feel overly firm, but there are absolutely no burn or draw problems to be found here. The flavor is exactly what I expect from a fine maduro: cocoa and earth, a hint of spice, and smooth from start to finish. With a glass of spicey red wine, you can't ask for much more out of life. I would love these cigars for $8 a pop; at $2-3, I've found a near-perfectly burning companion as loyal as my puppy (and he cigar won't chew my sandals).

"Sumptuous Surprise"
I didn't know what to expect from this one. Picked it up for cheap while buying a few bottles of wine. Construction is excellent. Firm, well crafted with just enough give. The wrapper was very nice but just a bit dull looking...not oily in appearence. IT cut easily with a punch and the draw was perfect all the way thru. No harsh light up blast just a smooth luxurious smoke that that makes you crave the next draw almost as soon as you finish the current one. Simple and well rounded with a nice finish of light spice. No aftertaste or flatness. Burned perfectly to about 1 3/4 inches where it got a little edgy but that was fine because I already was feeling a little punch drunk. Enjoyed with a glass of malbec/cabernet. Another reviewer called this a Porterhouse cigar and I think that sums it up nicely. A thick juicey steak not a fancy french dish. There will be more of these in the Humi.

I love this cigar, this is the best cigar I've had in this price range, sure there might be better for much more, but you don't need to spend the money. "Looks can be deceiving"
This cigar has a rock solid, dark construction and appearence. Unfortunately, most of its distinguishing qualities end there. The taste is very boring and a little bitter, reminicent of those packs of cheapos you buy at the gas station. The draw was inconsistent, but the ash was nice and solid. If looks are more important then taste, this isn't a terrible cigar, but for the more trained pallette, this cigar is little more then a mantle piece.

"Wierd Burn"
Cigar lit well and tasted fine at first. The ash wasn't great... kind of flaky, but acceptable. Then at about a third through the smoke, the cigar started tunneling badly and turned harsh and hot.

I got the burn under control, and the cigar smoked acceptably until the last third of the cigar, when it started to tunnel out again. The cigar was harsh and unpleasant at this point and I pitched it.

Though the overall taste was OK, I think this would be a nice smoke for the price if not for the burn problems. I'm gonna try a couple more to see if it was a fluke.

"Plain Jane"
This cigar has its pros and cons, as do all cigars. On the positive side: the construction was nice and the cigar cut really well; it lit easy and produced a good amount of smoke right off; the long filler produced a nice white ash. On the contrary: the draw was far too tight for my taste; it lacked complexity and had a very consistent and bland flavor throughout. Overall, this is an average cigar recommended if you find it at a good price.

Cigar Afficianado rates this a 90. I disagree. Good lucking, well put together but disapointing. The taste lacked complexity and was a little too harsh. For the same money, you can get a Gispert Maduro Robusto, which is much better. Even better is a Partagas D4.

I think that this cigar stands head and shoulders above others in this price range - in fact is it as good or better that cigars costing 2 or 3 times a s much. The first box of 50 were uniformly good; fairly even burn, great flavor from start to finish. The second box I purchased ... well I should have returned them. Several had broken & shaggy wrappers; ended up throwing 4 of them out. Next time I'll buy a box of 25 that come in cello maybe that will help preserve the wrapper. Great value at $2 bucks a piece; cannot be beat for an affordable everyday cigar.

I came across these in a small shop nearby, and I had a few bucks left to spend. They were cheap so I grabbed a handful. Out of the 6 or 7 different premium smokes I bought that day, this one impressed me the most. The wrapper was awesome, creamy and oily. I'm a sucker for oily wrappers, so this one appealed to me. The size is smaller than I normally like, but I got over it real quick once this one warmed up. Lasted a good half-hour. I just don't have any complaints about this bad boy.

I picked up a box of Maduro Rotheschilds after reading a review in Cigar magazine. I have to say...this is one heck of a cigar for the price! It is rich and full bodied, with a fantastic flavor that reminds me of a La Gloria Cubana Series R, but for half the price. "Good but not great"
Excellent appearance, decent burn, but with ash that would only hold for about an inch. This wasn't a big deal in the first half, but in the second it was a real problem. It started out with an easy draw, and had a nice spiciness to the wrapper's lipfeel. The dominant flavor was toasty and cocoa/coffee with notes that reminded me of the RyJ Anniversario Robusto (definitely a good thing). Unfortunately at about halfway every time I ashed it turned murderously harsh and bitter for 4 or 5 puffs...and no amount of purging or letting it sit would stop this from happening. In the parts where I could get a good taste other than bitter, it was pretty good. If the construction was better, this would definitely be an outstanding cigar and a great value.

You can look for my review about the La Gloria Cubana Serie R #5 about this cigar. I used to like the El Rey Del Mundo but this one is nothing less than that and it's about 50% cheaper than the ERDMs. At $2.00 a pop, you can't beat this. The flavor/aroma is nothing less than the LGC Serie R or ERDMs but MUCH cheaper if you buy a box (About $100 for 50 pcs. from JR). Stronger than ERDM but a bit milder than LGC Serie R.

My ratings are for the Maduro. The natural is just so-so. I make a special trip to a shop 20 miles from me to get these, because the local shop only carries the Naturals. I think this is absolutely one of the top "Most bang-for-your-buck" cigars going. Every one I've smoked has had flawless construction, burn and draw. It is definately full flavored, but the maduro wrapper adds a creamy sweetness that rounds it out Very nicely. Perfect evening smoke. Just wish the other SLR RE sizes came in maduro.

"Powerhouse"
Right from the initial puff I knew this was going to be a full flavored cigar and it never diappointed right to the end. Excellent burn, ash and flavors of spice, pepper, leather and some clove in the finish. (Maduro)

"Beautiful..."
This smoke was aesthetically-satisfying in every sense of the word. Perfect construction, snow white ash and a perfect burn. Flavor-wise, it was medium to full bodied and extremely smooth. I have to agree with George Kay - this is a best kept secret.

"Best Value"
For the money, this is one of the best kept secrets in the cigar marker. Especially the maduro, but both are good. Good draw, lots of flavor and the 54 ring size a great bonus at this price. I love them and they are a regular every day cigar with me.
