"Outstanding! Until..."
What a shame. This is, hands down, my favorite smoke thus far in my journey into the Brotherhood of the Leaf. The beautiful San Andres Morron wrapper was oily and dark with little veining noted. Pre-light aroma was woodsy with a bit of spice and got me immediately excited about what was to come. Toasting the foot proved easy, and the first draw was smooth as silk, with the same spicy-woodsiness I expected. Like all Saint Luis Reys it held the ash and did not want to let go. Unfortunately, about halfway through the draw became so unbelievably tight that it became impossible to smoke. Amazing first half, however. I'll definitely try another and hope the best.

"Dead-on Value"
NO, this is not going to satisfy the high dollar smoker for the simple reason that it is a budget smoke. Roll your eyes if you may, but the St L Rey Toro Maduro is the best 3.00 smoke available. I've tried near a 100 2-4 dollar cigars. After 2-3 years of experimenting, I'm convinced no cigar is a better smoke for the buck. I ran out in Vegas about a year ago. It was my first vacation in 5 years. I took 5 for 2 nights, but ran out. The lobby of the Venitian had a cigar stand selling Fino Davidoffs. I had smoked a couple 15 years back, but had no idea what I was smoking. So, I dished out 14.00 for a Fino and dove in to what I thought was going to be cigar heaven. I missed my SLR immediately. Nuff said, the SLR Toro Maduro is the finest smoke for the buck hands down. It's as good or better than most smokes at any price. Other SLR smokes were just pretty good to me, FYI.

"Decent smoke, good price"
This maduro really stands out because of its extremely pressed shape. The draw is slightly firm but it burns consistently. It's medium-bodied with coffee and nutty flavors; it tastes a bit rough, but it's more than smokable. Reasonably priced so will probably get more.

"One of my favorites"
Smooth, chocolate and coffee flavor. Burned perfectly. The draw was a little firm. That's my only complaint. Great price, too.

"Yummy!"
Don't know if I'm talking about the same cigar as you guys. The box I bought are the new blend, Reserva Especial and the cigars are square-pressed. Anyhoo, these things taste so good I could almost eat 'em. I would describe the taste as chocolate with a smidge of coffee. The only bummer is I've had several that were hard to draw, but they still burned evenly and tasted great. I will definitely get another box of these in the future.

"good value"
Mild to medium body, pleasant flavor, even burn. Draw started a bit tight but opened nicely. Not a great smoke but certainly worth the price.

"Good flavor, bad burn."
This cigar was pretty good overall but had a bad canoe-y burn to it. The flavor was medium overall with a spicy start and leathery and pleasant throughout. Except for the burn this would be a top stick in the price range...as is it is no more than okay.

"No better"
Over a year later and this cigar is no better than it was when I got them. Very disappointing considering what the SLR used to be.

"Not bad, not bad"
They look great, they smell great, they are well rolled, the flavor is mild-medium. I enjoyed this one and for the money I think its a great smoke if you like them on the lighter side of the street.

"Keep trying."
They say these are supposed to be similar to the good 'ole SLR brand. Not even close. Not strong enough, not flavorful enough. Bland and mediocre.

"Okayish...just"
Very good appearance and construction. Burn was dead even and the draw was on the loose side, with plentiful smoke being generated (at both ends!... which is not necessarily appreciated by all). The flavor changed from an initial nutmegish spice with some promise to flat wood tones without much depth, which lasted for the remainder of the cigar. Strength was medium, and the finish was reasonably smooth, but dry, and it got bitter after the first half of the 'gar. This is a cheap cigar, and for the price it's a decent smoke. On absolute terms, however, not one that you would include in your humidor.
