Sancho Panza (Hon) ‘Double Maduro’ Quixote

Very thick smoke with every draw, and speaking of draw; very nice! Tastes great and easy to smoke, at a price that makes an affordable every day taste.

I decided to try these after many recommendations as a good, cheap smoke. Construction was good and I used a punch as I've heard the caps have a tendency to come loose. It stayed together fine but there was a bit of grit through the first few puffs. It burned evenly and needed no relights or touch-ups which is a first for me. Flavor was excellent with a rich cocoa taste mingling with hints of leather. There was no spice evident and the flavor stayed consistent with a bit of mellowing toward the end. For the price these are a real winner and make a great everyday smoke.

As others have noted the entire cap came off at the first draw; however it never unraveled, so I'm not sure why they bother putting the cap on in the first place! I am giving it a "9" for construction anyway, because the draw was absolutely perfect. Tons of blue smoke and an ash that held on for 2 inches. One-dimensional flavor in a spicy-sweet kind of way. Normally I double or triple puff to get a good mouthful of smoke, but with this one a single puff was enough. Medium-full body, medium taste, great value!

This is like a hot chocolate in cigar form. Very good, straight-forward broadleaf taste. Perfect for a quick smoke on a summer night. Not the best construction, they fall apart sometimes.

WOW... what a great cigar. Produced loads of smoke with an even burn and a great draw. Lots of flavor. Hints of creamy mocha with light cedar undertones. A true pleasure to come home to after a long day at work.

very tasty and a good amount of smoke from the draw. The price is right for such a great cigar, but some in the box are constructed a little bad. Like other reviews the head sometimes does come off. I suggest you examine very careful the head before buying unless you buy a box (jrcigar)like I did which made the price extremely lower then buying it from a shop.

Great price for a sweet, smooth maduro. Typical Honduran profile tempered by a well-fermented wrapper.

I picked this one up on my way home from work and smoked it to the nub. What a great creamy mocha taste. I did notice a little problem with the cap. Nice even burn lots of smoke. Going back tomorrow and picking up a few more of these.

Great burn, smooth draw, excellent taste. I absolutely love this cigar. I have tried the other sizes in the Sancho Panza Double Maduro line, and the Quixote is the best. You should leave them in your humidor a minimum of three to four weeks before lighting up. Hints of cocoa, cedar, and spice throughout. I love it! The only problem I have had is that the cap comes off when you clip it.

I had this in the humi for about a year, and I have to say that age did not make this any better. In fact, I will say that it took away from some of the qualities that I like about this cigar. Instead of a smooth, chocolatey taste, this became more earthy and dull, losing some of the floral qualities that a younger stick had. Still, this is a nice smoke for the price...I just suggest smoking them within a few months of purchase.

I've had a few of these now... other than the slight cap problem mentioned by others (but not on every cigar), this is a great cigar. Clouds of smoke, with mocha and coffee flavors. Can't be beat for the price.

This is the "robusto" in my regular rotation. While good right out of the box, these really do much better with 4-5 weeks in the humidor. At under 2.00 a stick in box quantities (Holts) keeping a box or two ahead is no problem. The caps do tend to flake off, but I find it a really small problem. In fact, I have, in a pinch, prepped one of these by simply popping the whole cap off with a fingernail, popping out the "nut" and lighting up.

A quality "Rothschild size" maduro with hints of spice. Medium strength with coffee and pepper flavors. Good construction, nice slow even burn. Well worth the price if you're a maduro fan. A great afternoon smoke among my circle of cigar smoking friends.

Decided to try one of these to see if i can find a daily smoke for this price. Burn was decent, but not great. Draw was good. Decent amount of smoke. Taste was very similar to a 5 vegas A series to me. That very maduro flavor with some hints of peper. A decent everyday gar for someone on a budget.

Very impressed. Not only the price but, overall experience. Good appearnce, even burn, smooth draw. Did burn pretty quick. Good medium to medium full flavor with hints of coffee, chocolate and a mild spiciness. Will buy more, no doubt.

This is a great cigar. Beautiful, oily wrapper with a mild, yet delicious pre-light aroma. Great construction that held an ash through about half of the cigar before falling off. Starts out almost floral and then quickly changes to a dark chocolate flavor with an undertone of strong coffee. Keeps the same flavor although stronger towards the end, but still remaining smooth and not growing harsh. Great stick and at around $3, this is one of the best buys out there. They have the right to charge two to three times the price of this and still you would be getting a good buy. I heartily endorse this one, and if you see one in your local tobacconist's shop and you haven't tried one, then do yourself the favor and give it a roll.

This cigar had a wonderful draw and burn. Ash dropped once entire cigar. Flavor is medium with a strong mocha. Good Value

I typically smoke cigars on the natural/earth end of the flavor spectrum, but have been wanting to find a solid maduro to keep around when I am in the mood for a more flavorful smoke. I was extrmely surprised and impressed by the smooth draw and smooth taste of this stick. The cigar gained strength in the last 1/3 of the stick, and I am anxious to see how they mellow and even out in the humidor after a couple months. The only flaw in the cigar was it began to peel about 1/2 through, but I have seen limited comments posted about this, so im thinking it was a fluke stick. I will continue to try a few more maduros, but for the price, its tough to go wrong.

Overall great flavor, but the draw was so tight, that I really had to work for the smoke. Maybe too young or too moist. Also, after using a punch on the stick, the cap began to unravel a little bit, but was able to fix pretty easily. Smoked it right from the Cigar Shop. Will try again after it has had time to rest in my humidor.

Had this a while ago, but it left an impression. Pretty strong maduro flavor. Burned well but was very loose, especially toward the end. If smoked too fast, you'll 'remember' this one. Would definately try again maybe after a huge meal.

Not abad cigar at all for 3 bucks, just less enthralling after discovering the dark side. Nice burn, good draw although a little short on smoke, nice medium bodied flavor with hints of cocoa. A good cigar if you are looking for an inexpensive milder smoke.

Got a box from Jr @ 2.00 per...what a steal. Great draw, aroma, and burn. I will keep these as my go to choice until they no longer are made 🙂

My friends told me to try the Sanchos so I grabbed one when I saw it at a local store. The price is definitely decent. Ok looking, good draw, and good burn. Taste was good but not great. I enjoyed it but not as much as some of the other maduros I've tried.

The cap fell off after 5 mintues of smoking !! It looked like crap before I cut it using razor sharp punch. Now talk about a waste of 5 dollars!!! Ill go to a different trusted maduro the next time and say no to Sancho Panza

A nice box-pressed cigar. It burned evelny, and had a great peppery taste. An excellent after dinner smoke. I found it to be stronger than the Extra Fuerte. One of the best values in the cigar world.

As an Aussie buddy of mine would say, no worries. Rock solid burn and draw you light and enjoy, no touching up. I love maduro and this fits the bill. A full bodied smoke you can sink your teeth into. Light spice and good maduro flavor, not overpowering. Darn good cigar. A beer with your buddies kinda smoke, you can shoot the bull butter with them and not worry about your stogie going out.

Oily, pressed, and with a dark, rich color, this is a nice looking cigar. It has a slightly uneven burn and a firm draw but forms a nice whitish ash. It needs some relighting during the last half of the smoke. It's predominantly toasty and peppery, but I detected some other underlying faint flavors (spicy and meaty notes)that come and go but never quite fully appear. Perhaps it needs some aging for everything to come together. Not a horrible smoke, but considering the dark color and the "double maduro" name tag, I was expecting more taste.

This cigar had a very nice, dark color, but its overall appearance was poor. The cap looked like it was thrown on as an afterthought, perhaps done by a kindergarten student practicing his paper mache skills. The draw was also a little tight, but not as difficult as it sounds like other have experienced. The flavor started out very leathery with some tones of earth. There were also some black pepper notes, but the cigar was never spicy. After about the half way mark, flavors moved toward chocolate espresso beans. Overall, not a bad smoke, but not spectacular either. I'd be interested in trying this blend in a larger size as I suspect it did not have time to fully develop due to its short length. However, I doubt this will ever be a must-have smoke no matter the vitola.

Nice tasting cigar. The only problem was that I had to really work to get any smoke from the tight draw. Can't recommend, but it is worth a try for teh price alone.

This stick was well made with a box press and dark wrapper. The foot lit well and held a long ash with lots of smoke, yet the taste had no pop to it for such a dark stick. The finish was a little harsh, all in all a ok smoke for the price.

This is a very good everyday smoke. Medium bodied with nice range of flavor. Construction is always great. Very dependable, can't go wrong. Better than most twice the price

Great burn and ash, very slightly bitter irregularly. This one has a great, consistent sweetish maduro flavor, with chocolate notes at the start and alternating toasty and slightly leathery highlights in the second half. Overall a very good cigar, but a bit one-dimensional...which keeps it out of the "amazing" range. Very good value though.

Nothing special, price was good but I have had much better in this price range. Flavor I felt was one dimensional at best and burned pretty uneven at the end.

These are a deal...great flavor, great aroma, plenty of thick smoke...construction could use some work, but this cigar could go for twice of what most stores in my area sell it for (about $2.60). If you need a cheap, go-to smoke, the SP Quixote is it, bar none.

This cigar yields a rich, consistent smoke. I loved it, and have come back for more. It does tend to get harsh toward the end, but besides that, a great all around smoke.

Got one in a sampler at my local cigar shop. Loved it. Not as much of a kick as you might expect, but has great flavor. I bought a box and have loved every one of them. The flavor is rich but not very complex. I like the contrast of the bright white ash against the dark maduro wrapper.

Man, the finish got a bit harsh but other than that it was good flavored smoke with great aroma. I saw a few reviews noted a lack of smoke but i didn't notice that...in fact it ran my wife out of the room. The thing that got me was an incredible buzz...i got up immediately after smoking it and had to instantly sit back down. I was tired from playing Tennis all day so perhaps that was a factor and I did drink a Guinness with it (as i do all my cigars) but if everyone of them rocks me like this one did it will have to be an occasional smoke.

This one took a while to get through, and admittedly knocked me on my ass. Not much smoke and a tight draw, but worth the oral effort. Nice, strong, quintessential maduro flavor. Plan on smoking these again.

The ad I saw was so appealing I bought a box. This cigar is a terrific smoke for a moderate price. Appropriate volume of smoke, smooth draw, very even burn. Very nice white ash against a dark, oily wrapper. Mellow taste with nuances of chocolate. Not one bit hot or harsh fom beginning right down to the nub. A great everyday smoke. Never a fan of the box press, but this one is neat.

After stellar reviews I bought a box of these to try.Only 2.00 a piece a JRCigar.com great value.They were very consistant, everyone I smoked was very bland and dissapointingly mild with a rough finish being the only kick.

Bought a box of these a couple of weeks ago. Smoked one right out of the box, and made lots of smoke. The draw was good and taste was nice. I will put them in humidor and try one in a month or two. The price was nice too!!

First time i've tried a Sancho Panza and will not be the last. Burn was even for most part, and construction was solid, though im not a big box press fan. Flavor was exceptionally smooth and body full. Smoked to the nub. For the price, hard to beat.

Full bodied, with plenty of octane, yet smooth & pleasing. Very robust, with a spicy character & some sweetness in the sinus.

Another good cigar from Sancho Panza. Dark wrapper almost oscuro with a solid grey ash. Good burn and flavor, but the finish left something to be desired. Some humidor aging would help this cigar.

I like maduros and this is now one of my favorites. The aroma and flavor are complex. My only criticism is not enough smoke volume. With this flavor, more smoke would make this a perfect little maduro.
