"Conoju 2003 Phenomenal!!"
Review for Conoju 2003. This cigar is freakin' awesome. Pricey yes. Money's worth - yes! This cigar is really strong but very nuanced throughout. It's large and in charge. One of my favourite cigars in a long time. So many different flavours throughout, making it truly complex for the trained palate. Solid!

Beautiful spicy wrapper, great taste, but required many touch ups throughout. In that respect, a bit disappointing. Still, overall not a bad cigar.

"This one was crap"
The worst burn I have ever had, and a bitter taste, made me want to slap someone at ERDLH fo letting it get out. This cigar is usualy so good, that I was almost as mad as I have ever been, having paid so much for it.

I have smoked about 5 of these and consistent is the word to describe it. Great looking, well constructed and good burn. Medium to full body but w/ subtle flavors on the tongue. Not overpowering but has character and is complex.

"A rare cigar"
This is a very nice full body, full flavor cigar. Flavor keeps coming on when smoked. Lots of depth, excellent construction. This is a class with opus x, Padron 1926. First season grown from cuban seed in Nicuragua

"great smoke"
i love this cigar, i try to keep a few of these in my humidor at a time and i have not had a bad one yet, the draw is easy, but i kinda like that, its not so easy that it burns too hot, just right, allways burns even, you want to keep almost all pepin made cigars with corojo /criollo at around 65 percent humidity. great full bodied flavor, earthy woody, leather and coffee. can sometimes seem like a one dimensional flavor depending on the size, i also like the regios which i find to be more of a woodsy/cedar taste and the unicos which is similar. the conjuno 2003 is better than the 2006, looks very impressive too, everyone that knows current cigars thinks its a edicion limitada from cuba because of the extra banding.

"Fine smoke"
This is one hell of a fine smoke. I do enjoy most all of the Pipen cigars that i've tried so far. This is probably one of the best 2 so far. I like the Miami a little better though. I personally like this cigar better than most Cubans i've had. The construction was excellent and the burn perfect and straight. Aweson smoke, just to expensive.

"Not to Shabby!!!!"
Nice dark, veiny natural wrapper, with a cuban-like band that yells "11 dolla love you long time"! Draw was a little loose, and the burn was uneven the first half of the smoke, but evened out towards the middle.
Nice white ash that was a little flakey and not tremendously sturdy, which is seen as fallout on my t-shirt. First third of the cigar had a woody core that was very peppery with hints of raisins. Towards the middle the core became more earthy, the spice went away, and sweet coffee flavors started to seep in. It went out a couple times in the middle, which was annoying, but kept its flavor after being relit. It was burning in the middle much faster than on the outside. Earthiness really started to take over towards the final third of the cigar, but also had some harsh spots as well, which I had to wash away with my beer. It ended on a harsh note a little to soon, kinda like my last relationship. The smoke was nice a thick throughout, and overall I liked the cigar, and hope the next one is constructed a little better. Pretty unique cigar all in all. 85 on my 100 point scale.

"box date MAR 2006"
After six months at 65% RH, the burn issues are gone. Opens with the expected blast of pepper and wood, settles into the leathery profile described by Darbarian. Draw is effortless, but the finish is short for the first half. The Cubanesque twang arrives around the halfway mark, before paying off your patience in the final third. Walnuts, toffee and maybe some roasted (meat?) flavors come in on the powerful but smooth conclusion. A slightly uneven performance, but last 25 minutes is well worth the price of admission.

"Padron rival!"
I cant believe i didn't review this one yet... this was my first Tatuaje and it will do 3 things- remind you why you smoke cigars. 2, it will remind you that cuba isnt the only great country for Puros and 3, you will have a hard time choosing this or the Padron 1964...

"Overvalued"
This stick, with the hype, was worthy of trying. But, in the end it was a major disappointment. I was expecting a world class smoke. The draw was too loose and the flavor was eerily similar to a ERDM Robusto Larga, albeit at 3x the price. I'd say save your $s and just buy the ERDM instead!

"extraordinary"
The Cojonu was my first Tatuaje, picked up as an afterthought at the Center City Holt's a couple years ago. They had one box, with only three or four singles rattling around in it. I had never heard of the brand, and it was double what I like to pay. But damn, these things looked good! By about 1/3 into it, I thought, "This could pass for Cuban." By 2/3, I was convinced it was BETTER than most ISOMs I'd smoked. I was left thinking that this stick had the depth and character that old-schoolers say Cubans had in the early 90s, before the ligero supplies ran thin. Anyway, after that first chance encounter, I didn't run into another Tatuaje for around nine months. Since then, I've snagged nearly every box I came across. Not all have measured up to that first one, but an average Cojonu still beats 98% of what else is out there. The box of Cojonu 2003s I have currently remains a little unbalanced, and I hope to have the discipline to give it a year or more to settle down. At a time when nearly everyone is producing a good cigar by historical standards, these still stand well above the crowd. Among the best I've ever had, with potential to age into a classic.

"Good, solid performer"
I agree that this is a very nice looking cigar, but that is the highest mark here. The flavor profile is a bit one dimensional, but not unpleasant leather. The burn was not perfect, but was manageable. The price should be about 1/2 of what it is.

"pretty good cigar."
This is what a cigar should be but the price moves it out of the top position for me. This price should be reserved for really good cigars.

Earthy with some spiciness and leather make up the basic taste of this cigar.

Ill buy more but not in quantity

Also, I have a gripe with some cigar shops. Morehead city NC and the BIG one in Salem NH. Please when you handle my cigars dont manhandle them. There should be an etiquitte when handling cigars. Dont hold them in your fist or move your fingers all over them. I get cigars with cologne on them and other smells like soap and aftershave. Grab them by the label when at all possible. THANK YOU!!!.

"Looks v. Personality - Which Do You Prefer?"
I have smoked 2 boxes of Tatuajes over the last 18 mos. They are a home run in the construction dept. and it is hard not to fall in love with them at first sight. Have you noticed that torpedos always score higher than their regular shaped counterparts - despite being the same blend? Let's face it: Looks matter and these cigars are beautiful (the Montecristo-esque label doesnt hurt either).

As for flavor, it is quite good - full Nicaraguan spice, etc. But in my opinion - it really is no better in the flavor dept. than a Joya De Nic. Actually, not as good to me.

Now don't get me wrong, this is a great stick. But I think it wins in the looks and construction competition and not in the flavor competition. And for me - looks are never more important than personality (at least when talking about cigars).

"Great Friday Evening Cigar"
This was my first Tatuaje, but it won't be my last. This cigar reminds me of an ISOM, full bodied, good construction, and great taste. This stick started woodsy and evolved into a spice bomb. The slightly peppery finish has lasted over an hour and does not seem to be going anywhere. I can't wait to try the other cigars of this brand.

IM a daily smoker of med. to full smokes and this cigar did a number on me. Very full bodied for the first inch. It was so peppery in the beginning it numbed my mouth for the rest of the smoke. Beautiful cigar with mucho oil glistening on the wrapper with excellent construction and burn. Wish I could of tasted more of what the second half was like. LOL

"Believe in this"
Its been a while since I wrote a review. Mainly because Ihaven't been so inspired to do so of late. That was until I picked up a few of these on the recomendation of a fellow smokeaholic. This is a well done smoke in all aspects of what quality cigars are. I have turned on a few other picky smoker friends to these, and each has fallen in lovewith em. if you are into good flavorful smokes you too will enjoy these in any vitola offered.

"Exceptional!"
I recieved this Torpedo in a sampler from CigarsInternational and I have to say it was the pick of the litter even when matched against a Greycliff, Ghurka, Montecristo Platinum, etc. This is a really fine, complex smoke that I am certainly going to keep on hand. It is complex, creamy, balanced and rich. The build was superb, burned flawlessly and was satisfying right down to the nub. I wish it was just a big less expensive.....but at least you are getting what you pay for!

"Great non-Cuban buzz"
Interesting looking cigar. Obviously intended to resemble the Habanos
LE, the Tatuaje sports a plain band reminiscent of the Habanos
Montecristo band in color and size. Below that is the Cojonu band,
which looks like the black and gold Edicion Limitada ring.

The cigar is hefty, densely packed and attractive. The wrapper is
smooth with only small veins, and the roll is even and straight. A
Nicaraguan puro, the Tatuaje line is rolled at the El Rey de los Habanos
factory in Little Havana, Miami.

Clipped easily and with no tearing. The pre light draw was firm and
tasted rustic. The telltale earth/spice shadow of Nicaraguan tobacco
was evident, along with a slight mustiness which was not at all
unpleasant. The cigar felt good in the hand and had no obvious soft
spots or knots. Very professionally done.

Toasting the foot produced a wisp of smoke that smelled very nice. In
fact the smoke from this cigar had a very pronounced and delightful
aroma throughout. It was that old fashioned tobacco scent like you
remember from childhood, and several passersby commented that it smelled
nice.

The first puffs were flavorful and strong. Very straightforward flavor
with a nice subtle spicy edge. The flavor built and solidified
throughout the smoke, only taking on a sour or harsh edge when smoked
too fast or hot. Once I settled into a rhythm the cigar delivered
nicely for the entire hour it took to smoke. While not overpowering,
this cigar would be best enjoyed after a meal or later in the day. It's
not for the feint of heart.

Altogether this was a well rolled, flavorful, and enjoyable cigar.
While the price was a bit high, ($12.50 California retail,) it was a
very nice way to spend an hour and at the right price I might be tempted
to purchase a box, as the strength and flavor profile indicate that this
cigar might benefit from a bit of aging.
