"Love Triangle"
It's been many months since I last had the Trilogy Maduro Torpedo, and I have to say I really enjoy this stick! The black dogs and I were taking a little mid-winter hike and this cigar with its mild cocoa flavor, really hit the spot. The burn was good and the dogs didn't mind the aroma one bit. I still think that this is not very rich tasting for a maduro, but it was delicious today.

"Pretty nice...different though."
Tri Press shape is certainly "different". Construction was excellent. This was a slightly different tasting maduro. It was tasty but in a different way. The Indonesian binder seemed to add an overall charcoal taste to some slightly sweet and spicy smooth tobacco. For $3, I would have to reccomend these. Body seemed mostly medium to me.

"The name sums it up."
Very unusual cigar! The three-sided novelty is certainly different; I won't say good or bad, just different. Nice pre-lit smell reminded me of a 70's head shop. Cigar looked well-made and firm. Simple cut, easy draw and even, razor-sharp burn. Lots of smoke. I've knocked it down in the flavor category because it seemed that this cigar was all about aroma. The smoke smelled great - my son even came out at one point and said "hey, it smells nice out here, not stinky like usual". So it has many of the qualities of incense. But to me it didn't really have much flavor. So yes, it has three sides, it's a maduro, and it's exotic. If it tasted like a good cigar it would be dynamite.

"Good not Great!"
I liked this cigar. Like all the trilogy cigars it was well made and tasty. I just can't agree with the extent of the praise of most of the other raters. Also some inconsistencies between different cigars. Good, but not Great!

"Trilogy"
DATE: 2006/05/10
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper
CIGAR: Trilogy "Old School" Exotic Maduro Torpedo
SIZE: 6 1/8" X 52
ORIGIN: Honduran
WRAPPER: Brazilian
BINDER: Indonesian
FILLER: Hon, Col, Nic
SHAPE: Torpedo
AGE: Stored since 2006/02/16
VENDOR: C.I. approx $2.25 each.
AMBIENCE: A hot lunchtime in Houston, sitting in the shade.
BEVERAGE: None
APPEARANCE: Dark smooth slightly oily wrapper.
PRE_LIGHT: I cut the cap on this one instead of my usual punch.
These are packed tighter than the other Trilogy's
and need the extra draw.
DRAW: Typically tight for the Exotic Maduro.
FIRST_THIRD: Started off chocolaty with a hint of wood.
SECOND_THIRD: Continued as above with the introduction of a buttery
taste.
FINAL_THIRD: Butter chocolate and slightly woody flavors blended
together into a *very* nice taste.
BURN: Extremely even despite the tri-press.
ASH: Pure white firm ash, no flaking at all.
SMOKE: Lots of pure white smoke with that heavy almost buttery
taste that I like.
STRENGTH: Medium with a little nic kick.
FLAVOUR: Chocolaty buttery with a touch of woodiness.
FINISH: I love the finish of all the dark maduro's. A heavy
almost dessert type taste that lingers for a long time.
SMOKE_TIME: 70 minutes.
IMPRESSION: This is by far my favorite of the Trilogy line. I now
need to find room for a box of these, as I'm running
low. Of the ten or so I've had, the consistency is
very high, each one tasting the same.
RATING: 9 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks.
COMMENTS: First time in a month I used a toothpick to actually
nub a cigar.

"Trilogy Exotic Maduro Torpedo"
This cigar is easily worth the plebian price tag - very tasty, lights, burns, draws well, plenty of delicious smoke, burns evenly and cool. Really can't find anything not to like about it. It's a nice, everyday, user-friendly stick - would rate it close to Full strength.

"Smooth and delicious..."
I smoked this one in a hotel lobby bar in Puerto Rico. I have to say that for this price, this was a fabulous and very enjoyable cigar. I just clipped about 1/16" off the pointed head and enjoyed a long, pleasurable smoke which was also very unique with its triangle shape. I kept rotating it and it felt very comfortable in my mouth for some reason. Had a delicious, dark maduro flavor that was very rich. There were notes of coffee-bean and cocoa. The ash was beautiful and long, and the taste was smooth with a finish leaving me satisfied. Cigar burned slowly and very even. Was very surprised by the great construction. The draw was terrific, with voluminous white smoke. This was my first triangle-shaped cigar and I liked it!

"Toothy"
This stick was very toothy with a lovely appearance and construction. The foot lit well and held a long salt and pepper ash. The notes were not to strong and yet not mild they were just right. With hits of wood and spice and a lovely cocoa finish to it. I must say a good hearty Maduro.

The Ovation maduro is a treat, had to try the Exotic Maduro line. Well constructed, medium bodied but lacked typical maduro kick.
