"Still hope"
I bought a 20 cigar 4 size sampler about 11 months ago and finally just pulled 2 of each size out of a 65 deg humidor and moved them to a couple of humidors I smoke from. After 1 day I wanted to try one and I always like the torpedos.
The cigar looked ok, not great but good. The draw and burn were very good. I was surprised at the strength of this at first and the flavor was woodsy. I wasn't impressed at first but about half way through the flavor changed just enough to become very enjoyable down to the nub. For the price they are a nice flavorfull long burning smoke.

"Green?"
This is a gorgeous, dark beauty. The burn and draw were quite good. Too bad the taste was a bit .... green? This stick has been in the humidor a bit over four months. Don't get me wrong the flavor was not bad, but nothing to go crazy over. From reading a few reviews like that from "palm55," I'll think I'll give it another 6-8 months in the humidor and then let you know if it improves.

I don't know where I can get a nicer, smoother, more attractive cigar for 2 bucks. Deep maduro with after dinner flavor and aroma. A great cigar if you buy from a responsible vendor that did not let them dry out.

"Torpedo looks good"
I bought a box as the price was right and the reviews good. With the purchase of a box of 20, I got another 20 pack sampler. I like the look of the Torpedo, but the others in the sample pack seem to have a box press that just looks too square to me. The Torpedo has a lighter box press and looks good. On a whole these cigars look good, but the wraper is not real oily but looks nice. Some of the cigars, construction was a bit off and the wrapper appearance a bit inconsistant. Over all this was a well made cigar, ready to smoke out of the box with no harshness, nice draw and burn. This cigar will not appeal to everyone, but overall I think this is a nice smoke at a very good price.

"Patience is rewarded!!"
The VS Vintage Select (all sizes) is definitely NOT a stick that should fall off the shelf or go from the mailbox directly into your mouth! The "greenies" (I bought a mess of them a year ago) are disappointing. Draw was tight, burn was touchy, and flavor was, well, "green!"

Ahhh.. But let them sleep for a year, properly humidified, and the transformation is truly remarkable! Burn evens out, draw becomes tolerable, and the the flavor becomes a delicious blend of chocolate and nuts.

This is my perfect "Summertime-Daytime" cigar! Body and flavor mate perfectly with a frosty-cold dark beer on a hazy-lazy Sunday.

My recommendation? Buy a box... Store them today... Then allow yourself to begin enjoying the true character of these cigars a year from today!

"good value and flavor"
This is an nice looking box-pressed torpedo. Draw was slightly tight at first, but loosened up with gentle massaging toward the cap. It is mild but flavorful - I tasted chocolate and coffee, with an occasional hint of spice. After lighting, it smoothed out after the first half inch and yeilded mild rich smoke. One of my favorites, and a real bargain at $2.00 per stick.

"Forget It"
I tried these based on the reviews on this site, and was extremely disappointed. This cigar, though it is cheap in price, does not have any flavor WHATSOEVER. The wrapper leaf looks dried out, almost like cardboard.., no sheen of oil on it at all. The construction was weired with respect to the box press, more like overpressed. I was drawn in by the pricing, but I guess you get what you pay for, and in this case, not much.

"For $1, I really WANT to like it, but..."
Pancake pressed with a dry, but not unattractive wrapper. Starts winey and cardboardy. These off-flavors never exactly disappear, though they're mitigated by vanilla, cocoa and maybe even marshmallow. Then every time I think it's growing on me, a tannic, papery harshness returns on the finish. The last third is unsmokeable. These things are just plain weird, kind of a bummer at any price. I haven't given up yet, but I'm getting close. For now, I have to side with those who call this one "grossly overrated."

"An Outstanding cigar"
I bought a box of these because they were rated so highly here. They are superb! A nice hour and fifteen minute smoke with serious chocalate and espresso flavors and smooth. Well constructed and an especially excellent value. If you try these, take them out of the cellophane wrapper and set them in humidor for at least a week before smoking. I found that they were considearbly smoother after I did this. Cheers.

"Grossly overrated"
The title of my review pretty much sums up my feelings about this cigar. Even considering price and relative value, I simply cannot believe that this cigar currently holds a higher rating here on top25cigar than truly good cigars such as the CAO Brazilia. Mediocre from pre-light to finish. Not a very oily wrapper for a maduro, and the flavor was neither complex nor particularly enjoyable. Acrid in the first third, boring plain tobacco flavor (with a none too subtle aftertaste) afterwards. I don't think it's even worth the cheap-o price, to tell you the truth.

"Careful how you store these."
Bought a box. Smoked one after 20 days of box time. As previously reviewed, it was mostly smooth, flavorful and smoked like a champ. I've smoked 2 more around the 50 days of aging mark. They were both much harsher than the first and had minor construction issues. The "good" stick was in the 68% box. The other two were in the 72% box. The ones in the 72% box may may have taken on moisture too quickly and aged improperly thereby adversely effecting taste and construction. From what others have written, and I experienced with my first properly aged stick, I would still reccomend laying down a box from CI or at least nabbing a 5 pack from c-bid. Either way don't pay more than $2/stick and I think in the longrun you'll be happy with these. Just be careful at what humidity you store them at. I'll do an average refview for the last two I smoked.

"Bargain"
I was pretty speechless when a friend of mine gave me this cigar. I had never had one and it had the look and feel of a 10 dollar cigar. He let me believe that too, until I was finished and had bought him a couple gratitude beers. Then I was speechless again when I found out that this was a 2 dollar cigar! The aroma was great and the flavors were as deep and dark as the wrapper. I cannot speak to how to store these properly as I have just had the one, but you can bet I will soon have many. Perhaps I will review this one again later. For now, it is close to a 10.

"Great for $s"
After all the hype I got myself some of these to try out. I think I may have been expecting something that looked and tasted like a $10 cigar. The cigar is attractive and box pressed. I found the bands to be not done as well as higher end ones. There were some obvious veins on it. It smelled nice pre-light. Lighting was easy and draw pretty good, I'd say easymedium which is nice. Flavor is medium and it's a very nice taste. Definitely chocolately is the word here and earthy with peppery finish. The burn was even and produced a greyish/white ash, about 1" (more grey than white). Very smooth until the very end and finishes w/dark cocoa/coffee hints which linger on the palate. I had it with a coffee and the taste still came through. This is a value stick. I liked the flavor of it best. For $2, it's really good. My only gripe is that the construction isn't as nice as the $10 sticks out there (some of which can be purchased for $2-3 on CBID). Rating it in the context of other $2 sticks though, it's still up there.

"Not Sure What All The Fuss Is About"
A decent cigar, to be sure, but hardly special, IMO. Construction is OK, although the maduro leaf had lots of bumps and splotches. Pre-light aroma is good, draw is fine. Flavors are overwhelmingly sweet chocolate and coffee. Too sweet for my tastes, but, hey, that's me.

"Great inexpensive cigar"
After my experience with an over priced Padron THIS was a breath of fresh air! The box press was great looking and I admired this cigar for a few minutes prior to smoking. The burn was slow and even and the flavors had a distinct coffee and chocolate flavor without seeming forced. I will buy more of these for my humidor. I really cannot say enough. VALUE +10!

"Great value, but not THAT great."
This is a good cigar, make no mistake. Draw is a tad loose, burn gets a little uneven, and the flavor is one-dimensional and is waaaay to mild. That being said, the flavor profile is excellent. This is the closest thing to smoking brownie batter, and I found it to be a smooth, enjoyable smoke. Unfortunately the strengh is just too weak, so the flavor is not as full onthe palate as I wish that it could be. For $2.00, you cannot go wrong on this stick, but it is not the be-all/end-all.

"Outstanding Value."
Bought a box on the blind from C.I. based upon this sites recommendations. I let them age for about 3 weeks before trying the first one. It was very nice. It looked great, burnt and drew just fine. There were a few harsh edges to the taste towards the end but further aging should help take these edges off. The mostly smooth, rich, flavors were of mocha and spice with a little chocolate within a slightly sweet tobacco base. Body seemed mostly medium, sometimes mild. For $2 a throw a no-brainer here. These should get better with proper aging.

"FOr the price"
I don't really bargain shop anymore. I know what I like and I buy it. That usually means that I pay a lot. This is not the case here though. Like I said, I buy what I like, and if it just so happens that I can get a great cigar for 2 bucks a stick...well...that is icing on the cake. This is a dark, nice and deep smoke that sits right next to my Montys and RyJs. Just amazing for the price.

"Victor Sinclair Select Torpedo"
Started excellent - reminded me of a 1964 Padron that had been dipped in chocolate. Also a lot of spiciness in the 1st fourth. Spicy taste disappeared after that and became more of an earthy taste and more bitter. Last part of cigar really fizzled out. If just rating the first quarter, would have given it a 9+, but didn't stay that way. Pretty good cigar though for $2.

I agree with the majority of people here who seem to take good care of their cigars. This is a great value cigar that looks good and smokes well. I find that 70% humidity is a bit wet for these though and 65-68% keeps the draw clean. Amazing value smoke.

"ho hum"
I just received a box of the torpedos in the mail yesterday. I must say they are good looking. I smoked one last night and it was OK. It was a little tight and burned unevenly. I would not describe this as a Mild to Medium cigar, it's definately a medium or medium plus. I am withholding judgement on these beauties until I try several more. But frankly, so far, I would but a bundle of my regular no band Honduran torpedos at a pinch under a dollar a piece before I reordered another box. They taste just as good, or am I just used to them?

I pulled this from a local ciagr shop along with a few of its VS cousins (reviews pending), and I have to say that this one tops them all thus far. A nice, long and robust smoke. I felt that this cigar was a medium body, with a mild flavor. This smoke lasted well over 70 minutes after being well humidified. UPDATE: I could only stand to let the last of these cigars sit for a little more than a month before I smoked another one. I dare say that it has gotten smoother, significantly so, in that time! These are looking to be the steal of the decade. If they get much better, I am going to have to move the camacho's and La glorias to my old humidor and stock up on these for the summer.
